was reading the post about loving a car and had to ask what everyone thinks is the worst/ugliest . can they be one and the same .pix please!!
I remember a time when hot rodders thought 1937 Fords were ugly, times change they are desirable now.HRP
Speed Gems is right...a 39 shark-nose Graham is an ugly Mo-Fo. So, I just had to have one. I bought a black 39 four door like the one in this photo. Couldn't get a title and sold the car to Terry Cook of Lead-East fame. He said he was gonna make a low-slung car like "Scrape" or sumthun.
I love the art deco front ends on those Grahams...and almost bought one myself. The problem was the rest of the car. From the firewall back, that wild styling stops and it's just a dumb old sedan. Just looks mis-matched to me.
If I was to point out an ugly car their owners would feel offended, I don't want Plymouth owners upset. Bob
I have always loved having oddball wacky vehicles, the ugly factor is always controversial as it means something different to everybody. The Graham to me is a true art deco car, but that is just my opinion. That being said, let me post my contestant in the ugly race, behold my OFF TOPIC 1977 KALAMAZOO K-45 Burden carrier. I added the 50 Nash grille just to give it a smile! OK, the Gauntlet has been tossed down!
Yes. 1951 Henry J's can qualify. I've had 4. (1) A Half Moon Bay drag strip, 283, dual quad, stock front suspension when I was 18. (2) completely stock, (3) trying to build into straight axel, 354 hemi, dual quad, (4) a very nice COMPLETE parts car. I sold (2,3,4) when I was 45 due to economic reasons. Regardless, 98% of those that saw them said, "WTF...they're ugly." I'm now 68 and I loved them then and now. IMO, they're beautiful. Sent from my SM-G965U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Do race cars count? The Lee Oldfield Marmon V16 rear engine INDY car, it failed to qualify in 1937. Bob
That Graham front end reminds me of a puppy dog . Still,,,it kind of grows on you. But,,, like the man said,,,,,after you get past the front,,,,,,boring,,, same ole ,,same ole. Tommy
It ain't exactly pretty, but it does remind me of a bare bones Audi (Auto Union) Silver Arrow from that same time period.
For me, it's the early model Corvair. Had several and loved them, but they have a style of their own, and it ain't for everyone.
Ugly eventually comes around in style and collectabilty 'cause its different. Still ugly but different.
