Technical how do I tell if a rim is magnesium

GIBBS is the best to use for sure. But if you dont have any or easy access to some. Once the tires are off, Scrub them with hot water and dish soap with a brush to get the flakey white corrosion off. Then you can use WD40 and a fine scotch brite pad, not a dish one, grey body prep pad. The WD40 will lubricate it and displace the water to stop further corrosion from happening.

You can order some Gibbs brand then. Wipe them down with rubbing alcohol and then polish them by hand, then soak them in Gibbs. They will look awesome. Find some place to exray them before you try to run them. But I've seen worse turn out just fine. If you decide to sell them let me know I'm looking for a set for my 32 sedan.

a wheel has a rim...but a rim is not a wheel....same as a hub cap is not a wheel cover but a wheel cover covers the cap portion of the wheel..........is it lock and load or load and lock?

However, in its plural form, "wheels" might mean the entire car.

 

Probably not by proper definition of 'wheel'.......but as 'slang'....yes
