I'd own any of the vehicles posted in this thread before I bought one of the horrible abominations that automakers have been turning out recently.
It's all in what does or doesn't spin your wheels. I've stood in front of cars wondering why the hell someone would spend the time or money to "do that" to a car when someone came along and raved on how radical or cool it was. I remember guys changing noses on 37 Fords in the 70's to get away from that nose or passing on real nice ones at a right price for cars that weren't as nice with "better looking noses". Now guys hunt them down for "that look".
In the 40's and 50's the 37/38 Fords were only for parts especially the long roof coupes, a handfull were ok like this 38 with 40 delux front end and running boards. Merry Christmas.

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Teak garnish treatment,3piece windshield, free wheeling, (O'r drive), cantilevered rumble seat & recessed continental wheel. Paid $50.00 for it & it ran.
If they put a long handle and a vacuum bag on the rear bumper, Hoover could have sold it as a giant vacuum. Especially if the lights are on!

The ugly Airflow sales were in the to toilet. Thus making the airflow a rare car, some folks confuse a rare car with a desirable car...

Freekin ugly for me is Jerry Anoliks customized 55 T Bird, as far as i'm concerned he ruined a beautiful production car!!
There have been quite a few ugly customs built, but surely this one would have to be a finalist in any competition for the ugliest....... Ray
