What is out there for inspiration? Chop tops? Mild customs?

Here is one of my favorites.

Here is one from the Stray Kat 500 last May. Yes, someone (prior to the owner) welded the rear 1/3 of a '53-54 Chevy onto a Plymouth! 20190504_113604.jpeg 20190504_113621.jpeg

I'm not really A Kustom guy but every once in awhile I see one that just pops and yours "POPS"! Very nice. The only tiny flaw I see is the corners of the windshield trim should be a little rounded like the rest of the car not 90*. I'm just picky, great car!

3 inches at the A pillar. Not sure on the rear. Just lowered it until I liked it. I left the rear quarter window as long as I could to shorten up the sail panel area and to give it visual length. These era Mopar tops are pretty high and boxy.
Here is a cleaned up Photo shop a guy in Germany did using my car . It's in front of the Griffiths Park Observatory in Cali circa about 1954.LOL I will be doing a custom grill. Most likely a 53 Dodge sort of like a floating bar. See the 2nd pic.

  9. For some reason I'd like to have a 49 plymouth 4 door. I know, I know...it sounds weird to want a stodgy old mopar but I'd love to do one with 25 inch motor, split manifold, low with gray paint and white walls...nosed and decked, deleted door handles and rechromed bumpers, grill and trim. White tuck and roll interior with a Tonneau cover over the back seat. Keep it 6 volt so I can listen to Rush on my original AM radio. I need to lie down now.

Rocky, I want another 4door, too..... just a plain Jane stocker for me, maybe a split manifold and duals....

Are you the gentleman who built that? I LOVE that car! I have seen photos if it over the years and it always stops me in my tracks. So different and yet so classic.
    Well done, Sir, well done!

Dave and Fortunateson , I have owned the car since 1953 when I was fifteen years old ! the car was wrecked when I received it ! The body work and paint is by me ! The body work is hammer welded and metal finished or leaded ! It was last painted in January 1966 ! Dodge, Desoto , and Chryslers convertibles and hardtops had squared windshield corners from 1949 - 1952 ! 1951 - 1952 Plymouth convertibles also had squared windshield corners ! I am glad you both like my car !

I agree with Rocky as to '49 Plymouth 4doors. This looks so good chopped. Scan-191218-0001.jpg

I was stunned by your car the first time I saw a photo of it because I could tell you used major pieces of several cars to create it but the overall look is so "right."

I have never owned any '50s mopar but I like them and yours is awfully hard to top. I would love to see it in person.

I do not say this lightly: really outstanding job! The fact that you did it so young is even more impressive. The fact that you still own it is just awesome.
