Anyone can go fishing and catch a fish. But to toss out a line and catch the fish you wanted requires a fisherman. Lord I am good.
Rootie, the first photo is really interesting in that it shows the first Fike Plumbing sprint car (not the Hank Henry built car). It even shows the Fike truck in the background with Joe Pittman and Ray Gardner's names on the side. At first I thought this might be in the Midwest at an IMCA race. But looking at the size of the grandstand I'm thinking this might be at Phoenix for a CRA show. Any info on this one? The second shot shows Pat O'Connor in front of Jimmy Reece and Johnny Boyd at Milwaukee in 1957. Look at the size of that crowd. Thanks for posting.
It does look like a fairgrounds track but I have no info on where. It is indeed the 1st gen Fike car and couple of things I noticed is that at some point they changed to left side steering and I also don't see any headers on the left side in that shot, must of had some kind of issue.
When I first started working on cars I did a few of the oil bypass set ups where you run a copper line from a Tee fitting at oil sender under/through the valve cover gasket to the rocker shaft.
I'm willing to bet the were old Ford Y blocks. Seemed to need the overhead oilers frequently. 1 more car I promise, Rex Winter Dry n windy Lubbock TX
