Need help with the build the dogs and donts so I don't screw it up any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Derrick lee
Depends on what it's going into. I personally like the 351 Windsor platform better if you have the room.
The few I have worked on required quite a bit of clearance grinding on the engine block. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
If you use H beam rods there less grinding. 375 to 500+ hp is attainable but drivability is another factor.
A quick search shows that it may come down to how much you want to spend on it. Then it is the break over point of are you just getting up to the potential of what a 351 with a few mods might have for that investment?
If you have to have a stroker 302 I would suggest a 331 over a 347 anytime. The 331 has a better rod/stroke ratio and less cylinder side loading. I’ve seen too many 347’s die real quick. They tend to split the block in half at higher RPM’s. If you want to do it right use an 8.2” deck Dart block and build a 362” stroker. I would rather build on a 351W block. More inches stock or stroker. “Lope” is determined by the cam, not the cubic inches. Build a roller 5.0 with a nice cam and be done with it. No need to add the extra work or dollars for a car show ride. Set a 302 beside a 331 or 347 and they will look exactly the same. SPark
You can buy a 347 with a warranty from Blueprint for 5k and that's a deal. https://blueprintengines.com/produc...te-engine-small-block-ford-longblock-bp3474ct
I have heads an intake an carb roller rockers distributor,I haven't decided on a cam or the crank yet or boring out yet
I built a 302 and put speedmaster 3v Cleveland heads to get a Boss 302. Used the factory boss 302 solid cam and intake manifold. Very impressive
I can't believe this thread even warranted a reply. "I need help" "with what?" and on and on. Oh, I want a good lope for the local car shows... Mercy.
Its inevitable theres got got to be a smart azz in every crowd most of the time its me. I don't know what your after and I don't even know where to get a good deal on stroker kits. But if you would start peicing one together you can have much more money in a short block.
If you're NOT going to race it, just build a solid 306 (.030 over 302) and be done. We had a 306 in a 63 Fairlane that went into the 12's and sounded great.
