What a cool Chevy and what a great find that head is, liking your plans for it too, I'll be watching this for sure..
Im not quite sure honestly. Im gonna have to measure them and see. I havent touched the head since i got it till im ready to finish up the motor. Figured id knock out all the fab work first before i focus on the motor. Ill measure them and let you know though.
Thank you for all the kind words and support guys! I really appreciate it. Hoping to have a little update by this weekend.
sdrodder; as per our conversation. I did find the Rajo "Chev" flyer in my collection of Ford stuff. Sorry no dealer info on the flyer. I have attached a picture of the Rajo decal. Send me a pm with your address and I will send you a copy of the " installation instructions " if you want. Gary in MN
You can pm her...that would be an option.. Just click on her profile at the link provided by @Gofannon and start a conversation...
I've been building and driving Chevy and GMC inlines since the 60s and had never heard of a RAJO Chevy six head. I've been around some other after market heads. What a find! Better yet you are going to run it! I really like your approach thank you for avoiding Fordication of this cool old Bowtie.. I'm doing extensive wood work on my '26 Chevy roadster and just bought this book hoping to gain some knowledge. It will cover your car better than mine.
Will do without a doubt! Thanks! Im glad you are enjoying it! Will look into this! Thanks! Thanks man. Im pretty excited myself on this one. Kinda a find of a lifetime for me. Im not anti-ford at all and i hope no one thinks that BUT i feel that i want to build this like people build model a's. I see alot of A's built with nothing but ford stuff and i swear you can build one of these old chevys with nothing but old chevy parts also. Ive been stalking your 26 thread and i love the build! Ima have to find that book myself as thats something i dont have yet.
The book is on eBay but for some reason I couldn't post the link. I'm not anti Ford either but I'm pretty pro old Chevy. Mine has some Studebaker and Jeep parts the rest is Chevy. But you know that from the thread. Thanks for checking it out. I'll be following this.
What a great project! In case you haven't seen this older thread, it was started by Joe Jagersberger's grandson and there's a couple more heads in it. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/my-216-rajo-chevy-6-cylinder.862427/
This is ChevyGirlRox Rajo racing head These are from the thread flyin-t posted above. Most Chevy 6 and some other applications.

So its been a little while since i last updated. With the current things going on in the world, some priorities took over. But ive been back at it. First and foremost i got the exhaust all welded up and cleaned up. It has the right look i was going for with something that could have been put together by someone in the late 40s early 50s that had some exhaust pipe and a oxy acetylene setup. So thats done now besides a good cleaning and some grill paint. The other thing ive been going back and forth on has been the dash. I wanted to keep the stock dash but i just havent been in love with it. Ive always loved the 39-46 chevy truck dashboards. They just scream art deco to me and honestly this would be like putting a 40 ford dash into a 29 ford. So after a bit of back and forth i said fuck it and bought one. Now im just waiting for a day to chop it up which i hope to be this sunday.
So finally i got the dash all chopped up and welded back together for this. Fits like a dream. I ended up making a new piece where it butts up against the glass to match the same curve of the old dash. Everything else was cut and shortened from the stock dash. I managed to do a crank hole delete without just chopping off the beads. Im just now waiting on the trim for the dash to shorten it down, and i still need to find an ashtray and a decent set of original gauges. I am beyond happy with the end result.
Really cool to have a chevy build up!! That story about the Rajo head is freaking cool!!! Thanks for sharing ill be following!!
Six ball, i would love nothing more then to find a packard or a lasalle top shift 3 speed but right now budget doesnt allow that and i honestly havent even had a lead on one. Thanks for the input everyone. Im glad everyone is liking this project.
