Welded in a B jam patch left door...
patches behind the hinges, [8] holes in the dash face... ground the door top cap welds right side door...
That may justify a medium rare Montreal steak...

The work on these doors was a relatively easy way to heal a coupester's black eye... door tops !

replaced about 5" of the outer arched right subrail… ground - sanded...
Cut, fit and screwed in both of the small bear paw latches …
pull up on the red cable opens the latch, going to use '60s door locks as openers...

shame... too rare of a bed to weld into a trailer... oh, well.

It is a '36 front suspension, crossmember and frame rails..
wishbones and the tie-rod cut , the ends bent in and welded to the axle...
the thing was well thought out... builder had fab skills... wish he hadn't made the headboard tip down like another tailgate...otherwise ?

  15. On the up side at least you can recycle it. Probably would have been scrap if never turned into a trailer! With your skills Im sure you will have that head board looking the part in no time.
    Cheers,
    Josh

Separated the cowl from subfloor, flipped the cab onto its back, welded and ground any unwelded joints under the subfloor...
filled a hole at the inside edge of the RT. side dash bar to A pillar...
drilled and tapped a couple 1/4" x 20 holes in the dashbar to help mount the Vicky dash board...
[mounting holes don't line up with those on a '30-'31 closed car cowl]…
wood screwed the cowl's wooden mounting blocks under the subfloor so they stay aligned...

Drilled the hole for the "opener" in the door "cap"...
Stepped it up to 3/8", measured how long the linkage needed to be...
Welded a flat washer to the end of the 8.25" threaded rod, sanded it and removed the knob and small flat washer from the linkage...
Depressed the spring, slide the 10-24 rod up through the hole in the cap...
Dropped the washer on the exposed 10-24 rod, threaded the knob back on...
Used a 1/4"x 20 lock nut, flat washer and bolt to anchor the linkage to the Bear Paw latch release...
Screwed the inner panels on the doors...
Friggin' thing works great ! … love it when that happens...
Now I have to plot, drill and install the large Bear Paw latch pin...

It's looking good. Solid progress being made. hard to comment on the swap meet without people starting a political rant but my thoughts is that it's probably more likely to expect these things are not going to happen. Especially when the main attendees are in a more susceptible age group. Time to hunker down and get done what you can get done.

Don't want to cut out almost all of the bed's subfloor to clear the frame's kick ups......

Flattened and put 90* bends on each end of a 38" piece of 1/2" conduit to form a brace from the center dash screw hole to a hole drilled and tapped in the upper rear cab rail to re-enforce the cab for transport... will carry it 25 feet to a pallet outside, near the garage door...
. quick coat of cheapo black..

Had a pair of 3' long A frame rails... going to use the front 15" of them flipped upside down and welded to the chebby frame's rear end... they will flow down and then curl up to about level... spreader bar between them... they will extend the frame 3" beyond the tailgate to give a little protection...
pic of the same set up under my coupe...

Seems I have stumbled onto a decent model A frame, for the truck...[ '29 chebby goes back out back]...
he is a recently retired Ford mechanic who also has a good running Ford OHV 4 cylinder, for the coupester..
now to find a complete "automatic" tranny set up from a baby Ranger or Aerostar van... joe brown bought the half rails...
