Hot Rods NEED Black carpet speckled with silver metallic fibers. Help! Where can I find it???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by The Booby T, Mar 31, 2020.

  1. We are finishing up the interior of Erik’s 30 Model A hotrod and need this automotive or possibly marine carpet. It’s black speckled with silver metallic fibers. It won’t take much! We hear they used to put it in Stingrays. Please help! We would be so forever grateful to you!!! Thanks, Mindy

I think Chrysler used it a lot in their cars.

Have you tried SMS auto fabrics in Oregon?

perhaps it was Porsches, not Stingrays? Those sporty cars all look the same...

anyways, search for "silverknit" carpet, see what you can find.

If you install this stuff be careful. You don't want to drive your car barefoot. Might get splinters. silverknit.JPG

  15. Hey Mike, love all of your work, your builds, good thing I could go down to my local store (Mad Fabricators 2) , Mooneyes, it’s an hour and a half away and local enough!

I used Trinidad in my roadster, the black with gold fleck. I believe it was used in mid 50' s Chevrolets.
When I got mine in 2011(finished car in 2012) the supplier(in USA) told me I got the last they had.
Hard to see the gold in this photo but looks great in real life. At home 2.JPG
