@SR100 @themoose Thanks guys for giving it a try. I expected as much. Poor old pics with poor lighting, scanned to my pc. The '56 was an old race car, fiberglas '57 front. The "pickup" was a radical '64 El Camino short box step side.

I monkeyed with the '56 a bit but there's just not much there to work with, and I'm not that experienced. This is the best I could do, and it's not much improvement, but I'll share it anyway since I tried.

  8. "Moose, it appears you used the wrong filter. The correct method would have been to use the brown eye filter.
Without sounding cheeky, the damage is permanently done and I guess the old adage "once an ass, always an ass" applies. There's nothing that's going to wipe that ass away.
    sorry."
HEY!!!...oh well, guess I set myself up for that..
    Thanks, Moose!!!

I always thought fender skirts looked strange(?) weird(?) inappropriate(?) unfinished(?) in a wheel well with a pronounced lip around it. Anyone? Is it the virus?

Not as fancy as you photoshop types but a quickie with scissors and tape. EF205CD4-312C-41D8-B47A-ECBB71AA473A.jpeg

I'm right there with ya. I've always prefered flush-mounted skirts.

I took the liberty of adding '54/'55 Packard Clipper tail lights. I always thought they would look right at home on a '55/'56 Olds. OldsClipper.jpg

No quite understanding your meaning. Maybe this is what you're talking about?

    No . . .

There's still the outline, not recessed – but out front, of the shape of the fender well opening. Not flush with the skirt – like cars that originally came with skirts had. It just looks unfinished – that's probably why the cars that came with factory skirts made them flush with the quarter panel.

    Thanks, James!
I have been a fan of the Blue Train Bentley since I first saw it in Classic and Sportscar magazine over thirty years ago. So imagine my amazement when I walked into Vintage Motors of Sarasota (Florida) last month and saw this:

Real quick and rough, as i didn´t want to end up spending half a day on it...(it´s about the design, not necessarily the execution) and along the same lines as Rot'n...

Rot'n - Is that the real thing or did someone copy it?! Incredible thing to run into either way.

You’re right. That’s a bit too much. I like the black cover version he made.

I believe what Stan Back wants is to remove the fender lip, entirely, from the body (a-la shoebox Ford) so the fender skirt sits flush with the rest of the fender.

Yep, I think that's what he was after! I feel the same way about most mid-'50s-and-later Studes with skirts.
