Playing off of Flattop Tiki's thread above, I found rear drums that swap perfectly for our cars, specifically '52-'54. The rear drums for '69-'74 E100 Econoline vans work. Considering Mac's wants $165 for a '52-'54 drum, these Econoline drums through Rock Auto are a steal at $58! They even have a cheaper version at $31 but they're out of stock right now. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=426892&cc=1109382&jsn=571&jsn=571 I ordered mine for a '70. I had to swap out my left side original 'cause it was beyond repair..... The crack extends halfway around the drum! Here are the two side by side..... They're virtually identical! Specs: Drum dia. - 10" Drum height - 2-3/4" Drum brake surface width - 2-1/4" Register hole - 2.425 Bolt hole dia. - 0.615
Curious me,I wonder if you could use these shoes #169's and this drum https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=3872289&cc=1132322&jsn=644 and upgrade from a 10" X 1.75" to a 10" X 2.5" wide shoe for more stopping power ?
It's possible. The only thing I see is the back side of the drum is a full inch bigger in diameter. What is the height of that drum? Any issue with the backing plate? I dunno.
Just thinking about it you would probably have to use the matching wheel cylinder to account for the extra shoe width and the matching hardware kit for the longer pins.
