I'm replacing the entire wiring harness on this car, some of it using Rhode Island Wiring Service material and some of it custom, i.e. mine. The rear harness looks like it should run along a channel along the left side frame rail (accessible from inside after removing molding & a couple of panels) but the channel seems to dead-end just where you'd expect a p***age up toward the instrument panel. Anyone have a notion how run, for example the harness for the rear lights from the front junction block to the rear? I have the interior stripped except for the headliner which I do not want to touch. Thanks for any tips.
In the vehicles I have wired, I have ran the rear harness along the floor board channel by the door sill plate. It will then p*** thru the rear trunk area and run along the driver's side to the rear of the trunk. At that point you should be able to wire your driver's side tail light to your license plate lights and p***enger light. Sent from my XP8800 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks for the reply. My problem is at the front end. The harness runs as you say in a channel under the door. But that channel seems to dead end with no p***age toward the instrument cluster/turn signal switch. I think I'm going to hole saw on the inner panel (forward of the A-pillar) near that channel to see what I can see.
I appreciate the reply. I'd like to avoid removing the headliner (which also means the rear gl***, it looks like). I'd never get it to fit properly afterward. It is the case that the left pillar light (B pillar) connects to the right pillar light under the roof. What I want to do is route a greater length of wire from the switch across & underneath to the under door channel of the right side, but I don't see access to that channel either.
The wires run inside the rocker panel on the drivers side. On my 52 wagon they come out of the front of the rocker and up the outside of the hinge pillar and in near top of the of the top hinge. If you still need help with this I can send you pictures. I have a 52 and 54 dis***embled.
