    What a cool Project!
So cool with such deep channel job.
What do you plan for a seat ?
    With a a lowered floor?
    And swinging pedals?
They are easier to push if you sit low down
What do you plan for a transmission?

Thank you . On the seat I’m going to be running a cut down stock seat .
On the pedals I’m not sure yet until I get the motor in and see how much room I have .and how comfortable I’ll be .
On the trans . I’m back and forth
It’s either going to be a Packard trans or a 5 speed .

I would vote for a Packard trans and QC. The QC wont be visible, but you can change gears for drag strip or highway speed .

If you can find a Cyclone and want to run a Packard trans, you'll need the equally hard to find Hildebrandt or Offy Packard adaptor. @Stovebolt has the same setup, and he's in Australia and I'm in NZ, so they are around. However, you are limited to clutch size. A Chevy 9 1/8" just slides in, but these were designed for a flathead clutch so I have yet to find out what the largest of those will fit. A more practical and cheaper option would be to buy the adaptor from Buffalo to adapt a SBC scattershield and redrill for the Packard. Then you could go to 11" clutch, and swap to a 5 speed easily if you need to.

Thank you for the information as well as the photos, I have heard that the clutch selection on the cyclone was limited to size but I didn’t know exactly . From what I was told with my motor setup I’ll need a nice slice clutch . This is the first time I’ve seen the Packard adaptor . I’ve been talking with stovebolt about his .
The Packard face on That adaptor looks a lot like a Chevy trans mounting surface .

Mounting holes are different. Here's the cheap and nasty conversion I was going with until the Cyclone fell in my lap. 10mm (3/8") plate to bolt the Packard to OE Chevy 6 cylinder bell housing. The holes with bolts in them are the Packard ones, left side of pic is the bottom of the adaptor. Packard clutch shaft is identical to Chevy. There seems to be 2 different bearing retainers for Packard. One can be machined down to Chevy size to take a Chevy thrust bearing. Mine is larger diameter and can't. With the Cyclone the Packard bearing retainer is discarded and the trans bolts to the adaptor. Then a Ford bearing retainer is bolted inside the adaptor for Ford thrust. If you find a Hildebrandt or Offy Packard adaptor, you could use it with a Buffalo adaptor and a SBC to Flathead trans adaptor, and still run a bigger clutch.

Incredible work Cody. I'd be happy to have 10% of your fabricating ability!
How much is the channel? Pics almost show it heavier in the front.

Build looks great Cody. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the floor build. The most satisfying part of my build was any and all metal fab. I'm no pro by any means but very satisfying to have an idea/image in your mind and then make it come to light! Keep the pics coming!

  21. Clever. I like how you mimicked the '32 frame with the sheet metal on your channel. Well done!

Love this build, straight six is so cool. Wondering if a Jag V 12 distributor might be another option. Jaguar were using them in race applications in the late 50’s so it would sort of qualify for a H.A.M.B. build. Can’t wait to see this one come together.
