No V crest over the Chevrolet script. V8 (small block): V8(big block): Well, if no one did an engine swap...
The Lustron Homes truck and trailer caught my eye right away. After WW II the War Assets Administration awarded Tucker the lease on the former Dodge Chicago plant that the government had built to produce the B 29 bomber engines. There was a battle in the War Asset office with some wanting to grant the lease to Lustron, a builder of steel, porcelain enameled prefab steel homes. Tucker got the lease but he eventually lost in court with the feds accusing stock fraud. Lustron quickly went belly up too, their homes came in around $11,000 when the average post war home was $7-8000.
Just got this email yesterday: Dear Arnold Friends and Family, It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of Fred Winter. The news of Fred’s passing is heartbreaking and a tremendous loss to the Arnold Chevrolet Buick family. Fred was a valued employee for over 40 years and a true legend in the automotive world. Fred always had a warm hello and sincere smile on his face. Our deepest condolences to his friend and family. Rest in Peace Fred Winter 2/24/1931- 4/13/2020
Pretty much. I suppose if I owned a convertible it wouldn’t need to be fast, so maybe a six would do.
