Any chance you can just loosen everything, remove and replace the front upper door hinge on a 56?
Or does the door have to come off/out? Thanks.

You have to disconnect the door check strap, loosen the bottom hinge and then wildly manouvre the door to get enough clearance. I did it but really didn't save much. Good luck getting the door back where it lines up !

If you haven't already, while the door is lined up, drill 1/8" (*)holes thru the door inner panel into the hinge before you loosen anything. Use the holes to get you back pretty close to where it was.
    * I have 3 or 4 Harbor freight automatic center punches. I drill my holes to match their diameter. Works great, you've got a pin that is tapered, making it easier to line up the holes when reassembling the doors. You also have a pin with a large handle.....easier that trying to use a drill bit's shaft to line up the holes.

I used a #15 drill to drill mine, so it takes a 3/16" pin to line them up. I did the upper and lower hinges. To re-hang the doors is about 10 minutes per side.
