I know exactly what your saying and in a Nutshell You prefer a Chop or fit of Top that existed in a different period or even region the East vs West Coast rivalry that I tire of...I don't believe Barts Roadster was a Showcar even though I'm sure he did in fact show it...it was just a Clean Machine and he was just that kind of Rodder. I prefer the driven look myself...albeit I appreciate the efforts and attention to detail paid to these Show Class Hotrods...

I like the detail of the front bumper. Looks thought out and not just slapped on because it's required. Same goes for the fenders.

Expanding on my thoughts to your observations I am going to put you in the Drivers seat and this is your Roadster back in 1955...and I'm the one trying to capture what your suggesting...I like You, have opinions of History and have Visions that are actually plausible inspirations to past practise of which your suggestion is...I again many times feel what was presented really connected all the dots but what you are suggesting no doubt was an entirely justifiable look based on personal taste...All three of those pics you highlighted may have been connected regionally may have been gleaned from the same resource...a family photo album

There are 2 Mods with the Theme at the windshield lowered one more than the other...I actually prefer the lesser of the two...and very much like it...

If you clic the Thumbnail and then clic the Image you can cycle the looks and get the jist of the mods a little better...I suspect this is 1-2" drop max...and may involve a post mod...;)

The York Coupe - built 1957. Glen “Rudy” Rudisill and his father built the car in 1957 in York, PA, for Laverne A Stetzer.*

The last words tainted the reality of what we witness here but I'll enjoy the History for what it was...Thanks for sharing that...Jet Age Hotrod...

Yep. Those fenders remained perfectly moulded in place for over 50 years with no cracks and the original paint. Just found this pic with some funky front semi full front fender action goin' on. The Bobbed A Fronts looks like a plausible late 50s to mid 60s Mod but I prefer the Cycle Fronts and my only Detail that stands out as a detractor for me is the contour of the front fender to the Tire with that maybe being the desired look as thoughts vary of course. Mags and Wide Whites...they were 60s too...Still lots to love there...Great stuff @32ford5

Yeah, I noticed that too. Especially when compared against the beautiful work on the rear fender but I'm just fascinated to see what they got up to.

Edit: Looking back on the photos more closely I notice that in some shots the wheels look centered and others not so much. Optical illusions?

It was His Canvas for many years and lost the Fenders and Shell and went the Rodding and Restyling root...cool none the less and I believe Both are still around...Any one following @Fast Elvis knows of this Region of Hotrod Custom Influence in Ontario...some great history in that area...

    This one deserves a mention - Sebastian Rubbo's 400,000 mile 36 Ford (on a 40 Mercury frame).

Yes Rusty it certainly does...although a more Modern Resurrection its roots are in a earlier period 1946 (as noted in post#225)... @Rusty O'Toole your pic is now visible...;)

It truly is Beautiful...Indeed...any more angles @Fogger?

...This is highly indicative of Styling trends and Homogenization is an element of defined tradition many times argued as what is and what isn't...To me it also tells me as a Soft Topped Crowd they could lower the bows and keep the view...Heck the Roadster crowd may have also driven Hammered Coupes and played the game but on their terms and herd mentality and voila everyones doing it...

Well enough of my Rambling and ASSumptions...:D

@sgtlethargic I did one more alteration to the Root Roadster. I removed the Most chopped of the two mods and added one more. The 1rst of the 2 is The New with the sides leveled and The Header increased in height and dropped down over the Posts and Windshield without losing existing height but I would suspect the top of the posts would be near poking through but again that is what was suggested lower with no mods to the Posts and Shield. The link is below...I don't mind it at all...;)

Stogy, The '34 belongs to an old friend in Northern California. He built it on an original frame and has a Howdy Ledbetter leather interior, too. I'll try to get more pictures from him.

I wonder if that been a former SR Class Racer...I ask because I have seen those smallish Headlights on that class of racer in the early to mid sixties...There seems to be an absence of Rollbar however that may have also been a requirement...Not really remotely close to knowing those Class details but I rember that to qualify for it the Roadster had to be Street Legal...
