I remember when hotrod posted this picture sometime in the 90’s. They talked about the pros and cons. Some of the cons were the blower restricting vision and the “silly” rear tires sticking out the back. It was around the same time they mocked a guy for wanting to build a bob falfa 55 recreation. I was in high school but this is when I realized myself and hotrod mag had a huge difference of how cars should be!

HOT ROD and Car Craft both have jumped on and off every trend in the
car world. When they've left a particular trend in the dust the editors
call it silly, but never say they regret shoving B.S. down our throats.
Look at what HOT ROD has been supporting lately, the tv show ROAD KILL.
They've sucked me in on that one. I thought I'd hate the idea, instead I
shake my head and laugh at what those knuckleheads do. As far as this particular Corvette goes, it's just one more street freak (which I dig).

What a beautiful thing. Heart be still! Quite a reconfiguration with the roofline compared to this one. The roof, windshield, rear window & pillars almost looks modern Porsche-like.

I think the fastback Corvette was called Nomad. I have always liked it.

This is the Nomad. Have a look at the rear license plate area.

Rumblegutz I believe you are correct, from what I understand it was a non-running show car and I think there where 3 built. Anyway that's what I know, it was a beauty though.

Someone was making a kit of one a few years back but it was super expensive. Too bad.

31HRG I saw one (kit car) all finished at the GG show here in Rhinebeck maybe 10 years ago a real beauty but the owner had an electrical short/fire in it on the fairgrounds, no damage as I recall but repairs where in order. I've had several Nomads in my life and this one would be tops.

My opinion is Chevrolet made a mold from the top of a 1949-1952 Fleetline fastback and grafted it to a 1954 Corvette to get the Corvette "Corvair"

Fleetline fastback tops have very nice curves and proportions. Remember Jerry Johnson at Carroll Shelby's Dallas dealership talking about modifying one to use on Austin-Healey and A.C. Ace cars. I thought of making one for my 2004 Thunderbird. The top on the "Corvair" has a row of slots for airflow located at top of rear glass as well as a slight recess at the top for negative pressure generation. I like that. 1965 GT350R Mustangs have a similar setup with folded plexi.

    Along the lines of these
