The Lincoln rims on the rear of my car are pretty pitted in spots. If theyre solid theyre solid. All depends on the level of finish your going for. Being from New England I'm not afraid of pits you just have to inspect them thats all

I’m not looking for anything perfect. Nice but not perfect. I don’t expect things that are 80-90 years old to be perfect. If that were the case then GILF’s would be my thing for sure.

You'll get them cleaned up and looked over and decide all or some are good then either find the balance of what you need or use those. Sometimes it just feels good to pull the trigger and get in the game.

It's not real science but my theory is parts are like magnets. Now that you have those wheels more will find you. Whether you want them or not haha

I think you did alright. They are 16s. I'd say the wider ones are 4.5", the other 4".

So basically I need to find another 4.5”???? Were different widths used in different cars or is one wheel a spare tire wheel??? Can you run the 4” with the 4.5”???

Or another 4". If you're planning on a rubber rake you could run 4.5 in back and 4 in the front.

  13. What do you have planned for a spare? Plus you still need to spin then to check for out of round and run out. I think I would keep the same size on a given axle.

I measured 8 Kelsey wheels that I have and they are all the narrower. I think the wider ones may be more valuable so keep that in mind if you do any trading.

Hey Rusty, I’m curious about the threaded studs as well. There’s 3 per wheel & their only on the 4.5” wheels. The 4” wheel doesn’t have them. They do go all the way through. Here’s a closer pic on one of the wheels. If nothing g else I’m getting a huge education on wheels right now. I appreciate all of your guys input.
    Thanks.

Has to me something about balance I'd guess? Do all wheels have them in the same place?

the way that hole is punched in, and not drilled, it looks factory to me, and not some home made thing done at the tire shop in mayberry. years ago i was a bigshot packard guy, and the wire wheels for them had female threads to bolt on weights. i have, and have had, many kh bent spoke wheels and never seen this before

I dunno, that looks a lot worse than just "surface rust". I hope it all turns out well for you.

I have a set of regular Ford 16" '35 Ford wheels. Four are in great condition, but the fifth looks like the last one you showed. I am planning on spending a lot of time and JB Weld on it in hope that I can make it good enough for a spare.

Yes. All of the 4.5” wheels have 3 studs each that are spaced equally apart around the wheel.

the 4 1/2" part is odd too. the 35 16" wheels are 4", and i think all the KH bent spoke are 4" too. when you clean them up, you should see a KH stamped in near the valve stem. motor wheel co. also made after market for wheels for fords, your 4 1/2' inchers may be MW, or some other brand too. look for some marks, usually by the valve stem

  24. Pretty sure those wheels will come back real nice from the blasters. Bet they have been in storage more years than actually under a car . The outer edges of the rims and the mounting holes look really nice, even the inner edge where the tire fits looks smooth . Valve stem holes too. That one rim you have with damage is what you usually find these days.
This one. Even that is an easy fix. I would fix those edges first before blasting.

What would be the best way to go about straitening the edge out on the one rim to make it look nice?
