  1. I remember charlie Tabucchi's 1946-48 ford coupe, Chrysler hemi powered, exhaust pipes exiting from the rear of the front fenders.

That crane loading the truck into the barge is
probably steam powered the boiler was likely housed
in the structure at the rear of the machine. They were
prevalent in those times. In todays world of accountability the crane operator would be held criminally liable for lifting a load with any person
on the load. Every one involved would be fired
and or fined! When I started working steel and cranes
50 years ago we rode the load or the ball as a matter
of normal procedures. I was there to see safety evolve
from a nonchalance gesture to the stringent criteria of
the modern world. An astounding difference. I would
think your grand father had some quite remarkable
    experiences while down there!

  23. I was at that Autorama as a kid. look at the Maratta display, Frank Maratta is out front in the side view of his face.

  24. There were 2 of these almost identical shoebox Fords around at the same time. One of them was owned by Tom Mcmullen, who was stationed at the New London, Connecticut navy base at the time. Tom also worked part time as a salesman for the local Sears & Roebuck store. In later years, at the Detroit Street Rod Nationals, I asked Tom if my grandmothers refrigerator that he sold her, was her warranty was still in effect.

The Walker & Geary Bantam altered, or it could be the Geary & Walker car. It was lettered differently on each side, I guess they couldn’t decide who should get top billing. They had a great push car too!
