Pulled the rear suspension yesterday, now tearing it down for a complete rebuild. The leaf spring clamps (3 per spring) are throwing me for a loop. Obviously, not factory. According to the FSM, factory clamps have ears pointing down that are secured with a bolt. These look like you insert and thread them together, kinda like a wire tie.....weird. Looks like the only way to remove them is to cut them off. C&G Ford Parts sells some but they don't look right either! https://cgfordparts.com/ufolder/fordpart.php?number=C4DZ-5724-B Dennis Carpenter sells the rubber liners but don't know if they'll work with the C&G clamps. I want to disassemble and sandblast each leaf before painting and reassembling. Anyone have any ideas? Better yet, anyone have six originals laying around?
Is there a shop around that repairs springs. They may have the clamps your looking for or they may have another solution
I did the same to the springs on my car. After I finished painting them I took them to a local spring shop for pads and clamps.
The clamps from C&G are meant to be clamped down over the springs that' the only reason they look odd.
I took Paul2748's advice. Found a local spring shop and they had exactly what I needed! $25 got me six of 'em. Thanks Paul!
