[IMG] Could we see more photos of this one? Tires are a bit wide, but I like it. What is the reason for the dab of red paint on the axle? Bob

That is the only pic I have of that car but here are 2 more with similar axle. They both look like a stock axle that has been flattened ( could be an aftermarket axle). The spring has been mounted underneath. On the yellow car a new spring mount was added underneath. On this new pic he just used the radius rod attachment point to mount the spring.

It's a forging, hot rivetted. don't know what the exact specification of the steel is, but it's an extremely tough material to drill into. It is quite a heavy piece on an otherwise light car, and because of its shallow section it doesn't do much for chassis rigidity. Here's the forging and front of the chassis rails photographed from the top. I fitted this setup on my avatar car to stiffen the front end. It also provides the mounting for the Panhard bar. BTW, you can also see where I have replaced a loose rivet with a bolt through a reamed hole on the right hand side.

Iv been building this little car since the covid started. Not really the ideal drivetrain but i pieced together what i had. Going for something like a mg j2. Its a kawasaki 18hp twin vertical shaft i converted to horizontal. Going through a torque converter to a dirtbike gearbox and to a morris rear end I think its a 1957 mg not sure. I went with a transverse leaf in front. I want big spoked wheels on it probably make my own out of spare tires because motorcycle wheels id have to make my own hubs anyway. Alot of work but i think it will turn out good

  11. For circuit racing you have to have a towing eye. There's one above the red paint on the axle - perhaps a visual indicator for the marshals as to where to look for a towing point?

Thank you! I can see the eyelet that is also red. Makes since, owner picks the tow point. Bob

I'm following a YouTuber scratch building a 30's esque boatail roadster. All the more impressive because he's college age and working in his parents garage. This posting has him hand forming the grille for his hand formed grille shell. In previous episode he's fitting vintage Marchal headlights.
I found it helpful to mute the audio or skip through some of the fast forward parts.

You and I both know that is just wishful thinking.I just spent a week in Wisconsin.A lot of little towns with their original old town centers IMG_0658.JPG ....and the suburbs on the edges with their shopping malls and fast food places.

Isn't the Beaver and his buddy? And I think the kick stand is on the wrong side, or the picture is flipped.

  26. Leave it to Beaver, Episode 24, from season 1.

No, I'm not a huge fan. It was pretty easy to find with Google.

I really love that car. I had already collected 30+ pix of it starting with shots of it in the museum. How well does it do on the track?
