Thanks. I’m looking forward to seeing your project, it’s sounds like it will be a cool hot rod! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Managed to find enough time to get the pistons & rods installed today Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Made a anthill amount of progress today..... Cleaned, masked, primed, painted the front cover & figured out how to mount my degree wheel with a 5/8” center hole on my 3/4” crankshaft bolt w/o drilling the wheel bigger. I’ll use my balancer installer adapter to mount it. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Just saw your thread. Good car. Good engine. Good work. Fresh, painted block with shiny new guts. So pretty. Sent from my VS835 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It's great to see you back on your tudor engine work, looking good. I been buying parts for mine with Christmas money and working on the door alignments, hinge-pin holes being worn is the next issue.
It’s good to be back at it. I’m glad to hear you’re making progress on yours. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Been making a little progress finally. Degreed the cam, installed my rebuilt oil pump & buttoned up the short block. Masked, primed, painted & cleared the heads. Just have to get them on, figure out pushrod length & order them. Hopefully I’m on the home stretch..... Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I believe they were there from the factory & I had the machine shop replace them. I’ll have to go back & look at my original pics now to see if they were indeed there Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
It’s probably hard to see with all the muck but I’m 98% sure those Welch plugs belong there Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
It looks like my 303 block had them too, just corroded through. The ones in the front bottom coolant passages are restricted w/ 3/8” holes in them. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I do not recall seeing any in my 54 block. Wonder if Frank @F&J or @Paul could suggest why these are there and what ramifications might be seen without them?
I just watched a GM promo video of the engine building process at the new plant. Near the end it shows a tech working on an assembled 303 before the heads were on and you can clearly see that one port has a plug. This is going to bug the shit out of me now as I can' recall if my block has them or not.
Damn HF engine leveler fell apart as soon as I removed my engine from the stand! I was able to fix it & get it installed Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I don’t know if spark plug wire holding could get more perfect than this. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks. I was on the fence with the tubes but they’re growing on me. I have a nice set of ‘49 valve covers with the separators I plan on running with cloth covered wires eventually. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
