I picked this up the other day here in N.J. Bought in 1965 by Ray Estock of Woodbridge. Shine’s Esso. Anybody know anything about it? It’s rust free and a time-capsule. No motor or trans but, guys think it may have run Modified-Production with a 283 or 327 with a tunnel ram. Would love to get some info on this guy.....Steve

I don't know the car myself, but one of my best friends (Tommy Paffrath) ran a '55 right around the same time, mostly at Englishtown and I just sent your pictures to him. Hopefully his memory is still working.

IMO it kooks more like a Jr/Stk than M/P. Unless some one already started making it streetable again. I don't recognize it. Nice find, Good Luck.

Thanks Pat...All I did was wipe it down and get some tires on it. It’s the same as it was in 1965...Steve

The hood looks unmodified. Would a tunnel ram fit under a stock hood?

    Cool car btw!

Way cool find, I´d just put in a healthy 327 and a glide or 4 speed and go!:D

Yes, a tunnel ram will fit under an uncut stock hood. You need to use the small, stainless Pontiac Super Duty air cleaner's and AFB's to keep it low enough. ;)

    *****in' car, eggsplurt!

    Wow, incredible find!
    What are your build plans?

If it were mine, I'd find a really good painter to color match/spray the hood. Drop in a hot 283 or 327, dressed in period correct speed parts (intake, valve covers, distributor, etc), Muncie 4 speed.
Cragar S/S or chrome reverse wheels...

.....You hit all of the points I’ve considered for its revival.....Great minds think alike!...It will come back as no more, no less than it was in the mid-60’s...

Sorry, my old pal says no recollection of your car. Are you positive it was actually raced? Maybe it was a "cruiser" dressed up as a track car. Whatever the case, nice car, enjoy!

Nice '55, when I bought my '55 (Ford) in 2011, it had been sitting on a shelf for 43 years. Didn't look anywhere as good/nice as yours. My avatar is a picture of it in '67. Unfortunately, it has been sitting for 9 years waiting for me to do something with it, although I have been ac***ulating parts for it. Sorry, but I haven't figured out how to do links, but if you search: '55 Ford G***er on a shelf', you can see what it looked like when I got it. Hopefully someone will remember yours. Ron
