Customs UPDATE - Is Johnny Cash missing his car? History added.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by PoTaToTrUcK, Sep 7, 2020.

  1. Looks like a"T" Bird trying to be a Packard with side mount tires. A little paint and the right hubcaps and you could be answering a lot of car show questions. HAHAhaha!!!!!

  2. I have it on good authority that it's a 1960 study hall sketch that came to life.
I think Disney might of made a movie about it.

It's a Thunderplymouth by customizer George Embarris.

I spent an hour looking for a clip from "Looney Tunes" that had a car that leaned back/forward like it to post, but came up short. It immediately reminded me of that show, but I cannot find a photo.

I'm not looking to own it, but I'm sure it made someone very happy to be in their shop building it.

  6. That "signature" is that car. Without it it would be totally different. Whether you like the current concept or not it is a custom. Whatever it started out life as, like the Batmobile, it is a custom.

Were you in Texas. Could be one of Richard Rawlings nightmares.

I spoke to Geoff today. he said it could have started as an early McCormack, but without a good pic of the rear, he couldn't tell. Here's another pic of the original McCormack:

Here are three that are known to survive. All have a larger rear wheel well:

Just look at the body, not the engine...

To start, thanks NED for the photo shop version. Here is what I have found out.
From where I stopped for gas and spotted the custom, I continued on 90 miles to see my buddy, who's sister lives in the town of 475 people where the car is sitting, she got me the owner's name, I tracked him down and this is what he shared.
He saw it when he was 15 and loved it, took him 15 years to buy it, and he has owned it for decades.
The car was built in 1956 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The builder had hopes of producing them. It is on a 1956 Ford frame, all fiberglass body, no engine, windshield is the back window from a 1957 Ford. When he started finding the roadblocks from the government on making cars he lost interest and no work has been done since 1957.
There was never a name for it but the owner calls it his Fiberglass Boulevard Cruiser.

  18. I have to ask. Is the car sitting at Rod's just outside Saskatoon?

  19. I just sat through 3 pages of this.
    I always knew I wasn't really a custom guy.
    This proves it.
My eye doctor is not opened until Monday!
Hope I can get "Un-See" lenses!

Thanks. I meant to post it in the "How To Keep The Windowlickers Farther Back" thread, but it works here too, sorta. Note: it ain't mine, I don't know what it's from.
