This is my first real hot rod build. I’ve been playing with cars my whole life. Always muscle cars and high performance rides. I wanted to build a traditional car with the look and feel of the early 60’s. I tried to stay away from the Speedway catalog and relied more on old speed parts and some fabrication. I started with the body and A frame I bought from a great hot rod builder (Joe) in New York. The top was already chopped 3 ½” and the top half freshly painted. The bottom half is a 50 year old lacquer job, nice but not perfect. The frame is an original A frame that had a 32 K member and Zd in the rear. From there I used a 3” dropped A axle, spilt 40 bones and 36 radius arms. The 324 is 060 with Jahns pistons and an NOS Isky cam. I used a 63 T10 trans with a 58 Chevy bench seat shifter, Schiefer aluminum flywheel and a 58 Olds rear with 3:42 gears. The front wheels are A/R magnesium. The interior was done with cheap pressed pleated vinyl using a modified original A seat. My goal was to build a car the way I would have done it in 1965. I tried to do most of the work myself with lots of advice from my friends and lots of info here on HAMB. Also thanks to some talented friends that did the things I can’t like the firewall recess and seat upholstery. After 3 years it’s finally on the road.

  15. Very nice indeed! Is that a generator or an alternator that looks like a generator? (I want one of those,)

A helluva lot more interesting to look at than any muscle car I’ve ever seen. Excellent choices for power train and wheels/tires. Great job!
