Hello hambers I have 2 98 oldsmobile 4door 1956 and 1953 They both are single exhaust I thought to put dual exhaust on them with mufflers for a good loud sound Can someone show pictures ?
On the 56, the exhaust runs from the drivers side around the front of the motor to a flow through on the p***enger side manifold. You can either make a block off plate for the front half of the p***enger side manifold, or find a second drivers side manifold to mount on the p***enger side. In that case, you'll have to switch the head studs to bolts and fab up a new generator mount bracket that picks up off bolt mounting points.
I would have thought the 56 98 should have factory twin exhausts? My 98 coupe certainly did and yes the front of the right side manifold had a blanking plate.
Im running fenton headers so they dump out in back of engine stock manifolds run to the front of engine
I have two 324's that were pulled out of 98's (a 54 and a 55). Both had the exhaust wrap around the front of the engine to the p***enger side. Possible that they changed to dual exhaust in 56 or later, but not sure.
My original’56 324 olds had a factory pipe going under the front of the oil pan connecting the manifolds & exiting one manifold in one pipe. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Take Jimmy's advise and save yourself a lot of cussing, skinned knuckles and rust in your eyes! Take it to a known good muffler shop, tell them what you want, go to the local watering hole until its done.
thanks guys for your answers , muffler shop are not really easy to find here in france ..... i'll try to do the best i can .....
