Sears lot Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh was a popular place to drag race. I heard the big wigs at Sears were okay with it until people started bringing dragsters and other full time race cars there..

Some really nice 55-56-57 Ford's here! I seem to remember the Ford's had more rust issues back-in-the-day than their Chevrolet counterparts had, and probably why there are still more Tri-Five Chevrolet's are out there now. It surely is't because they're not as good looking cars! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

I remember the windshields rusting right out of them and the tops of the front fenders turning into swiss cheese after a couple winters.. The ones that made it were oiled every fall. They used to spray used motor oil in all the inner fenders, rockers and window sills with a bug sprayer.. The back bumper exhaust ports used to turn to rust if not cleaned and oiled regularly... They were real nice cars though..

  4. Had a 55 in my senior year . 272/3 speed O.D. In the late 90s a buddy had this black 55 as a parts car. I bought it before he robbed very many parts off it. It was also a 272/3 speed but no O.D. The black one had a rusted front crossmember., a common problem in the east/midwest. 55ford4small.JPG 55fordin66.jpg 55ford4small.JPG 55fordin66.jpg 55crossmember1small.JPG

55’s and 56’s are closely related to the 52-54’s that preceded them. Right?
57-59 are fundamentally the same design. 57 and 58 especially. It’s a shame the 59 is so ugly.

  13. That two-tone green was always my favorite color scheme on these.... The dark green looked really good on single-color cars too.
