Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

Michael Morris from Australia. He has owned that Chev 2 door (with removable hardtop) for many years.He also just finished recreating an iconic Aussie Hot Rod from the 60's using a lot of original parts and reproducing what wasn't there but presenting a complete and perfect rendition of the car. As Gary Wright said "It's better than when I had it".
I remember the roadster as a young teenager as Gary lived not far from me and I saw it a bit but also at hot rod shows in the mid 60's. It inspired me to get a channelled 29 roadster in 1968 myself also a Y block powered car. I rebuilt that in 1970 and painted it in a similiar colour to Gary's car.
I still see Gary regularly at coffee runs and other events and he now has a Model A coupe the second he built over the past few years and a really nice car.
First photos are of the reproduced car with original owner and Michael and early shots of Gary's car.

The Wild Bird

 

That Chevy was one my friend owned for a short time, Bill Sterns is his name. He would seek out custom cars ever so often buy them then move on to something else. He has been out of the car scene for a while health reasons has kept him from continuing his passion. He lived and loved the 50s early 60s stuff.

 

A cold rainy day. Purrfect time to get the Impala out for a drive.

That’s such a subtle car, well done. Are the front and rear treatments both from a Mercury? Love the roof and pillars.

Thanks for the kind words. Trying to keep it an early 60s Wichita style kustom. The taillights are 1959 Bonneville.
