    Hey Moderators,

Look...If you feel a thread is not supposed to be on this particular forum...fine we posters do make mistakes...hoever...is there a reason why you do not have the COMMON DECENCY to at least tell the poster WHY YOU DELETED THE THREAD???

What would be the professional and courteous thing to do?

How else will posters learn that their posts are non-compliant unless you at least tell them?

It is so EFFING RUDE to just delete a post without a simple explanation...WOULD YOU WANT TO BE TREATED THIS WAY BY OTHERS...SO JUST HIT THE DELET BUTTON...

    Make this a sticky...

  2. Lighten up Francis. Posting modern vette tech is pretty OT

Dude, relax. Stuff gets deleted sometimes, particularly if it is off topic. Have a beer and don't let it get you wound up.

First off, I moved this to the proper part of the board (questions and suggestions), second when I deleted your completely off topic modern suspension post, I sent you a notification. Is it true that you have been a member here for 5 years and do not know that this is a Traditional (pre 1965 build styles) board and that modern style builds are off topic here?? I suggest you look at the rules here:

  5. Come on Mark, you know complaining about moderators is traditional, especially when the member post off topic stuff! :D HRP

Looks like they have deleted one of your E's..............................just havin' fun. ;)

In my opinion, most times it is obvious why stuff goes AWOL.
However, there are times when the trigger seems to be pulled a little early, or a reason seems justified. Moderators job must not be easy though, and is performed free of charge (as far as I know), so complaining about it seems a little unjustified. Can you imagine the anarchy if there were no moderators willing to contribute their time and effort?????

    Nice to get your attention...

Seriously it is just plain inconsiderate to just delete a post without even telling a guy why it was deleted...or moved.

I was not aware that my post was not approved...just tell me next time.

    And never call me Francis

I sent you a notification, I do it every time I delete something, check the lightning bolt at the top right of the page, is it red??

  9. This post make 55,560 for me, after almost 18 years the numbers would probably more like 56,000 had I not made a few faux pas that got deleted, you shouldn't take it personally, if you post off topic subjects it will be deleted.

Maybe brush up on your reading by revisiting the rules, they are clear and easy to understand.

It would probably come as a shock to all of us just how many threads get deleted in a weeks time, rarely do the Moderators get praise for what they do. HRP

I just looked in the messages section...again. There is no message from you as to why my post was deleted.

I posted that question first and checked back an hour later and the post was not there so I thought that it got lost in CyberSpace...so I retyped the questions and then again it disappeared without reason...even Francis would get ticked and drop a couple of Eff-Bombs.

The community does appreciate the work of moderators...if a post is not appropriate then great...just tell a guy and then we will learn...AND MAKE THE MODERATOR JOB EASIER...

    Thanks again for the explaination

Your thread was deleted - it was off topic.

Any posts that you make in the future that get deleted- it is off topic.

If you want to know specifically why next time, send a private message to a Moderator instead.
Others may make posts that you might not like.

Moderators donate their time to help make the HAMB what it is. That includes not sending Private Messages every time to posters on why their post got deleted.

Nothing is personal - decisions are editorial.

    No sticky necessary.

    Thanks.

  13. The stickies and mods tell guys to read the rules. It’s obvious many guys don’t won’t can’t or know and just don’t care.
From that view, a poster clearly hasn’t read the rules,,, why the hell do they deserve a hand written personalized message to point out which rule they broke? If that poster hasn’t read the rule will they read the message? Not reading the rules is disrespectful of every member here.

And a perfect example, moriarty clearly said in his hand written personalized message to check the lightning bolt, you report on the envelope

    >did you look in the notifications? no not the messages, the lightning bolt next to the msg envelope

I go to the lightning bolt click the thread title and the next page says> THE H.A.M.B. - ERROR

And that is kinda the point...

A lot of you guys are here everyday and you all know the drill...great good for you...

It is not that others like me cant read...we simply do not know all of the rules...nor do we know what the lightning bolt does...

Again...you can just delete peoples OT threads and not say anything but it is very inconsiderate...and you are not going to teach people the rules...

...when a simple "hey I had to delete your thread because it is off topic" message might be more helpful.

    NufSaid...

  15. Where’s my temporary moderator buttons :D:p
    I’d fix this real quick.
You’re required to read the rules. Damn

My elderly mother still drives, but not all that often. I guess she should be excused from having to know all the rules.

    Read the rules ~

The HAMB is dedicated to spreading the gospel of traditional hot rods and kustoms to hoodlums world wide. That's right; TRADITIONAL. If you've come here to discuss anything other than Hot Rods or Customs built in a style representative of 1965 or before, you've come to the wrong forum.

Even if you have come here for all the right reasons, don't expect posting to be easy. We don't cater to new fellas unless they show a dedication to spreading this tradition of ours first. We welcome young, old, foreign, and all; but our original members and our staff expect a certain level of respect and an effort to keep things true and on topic.

Maybe you are an old fart with a past. Maybe you are one of the guys that started this tradition we cherish. We built this place for you and your posts mean the world to us. Hop on and introduce yourself. This is your board.

Still reading? Then you must be cut out for this, right? We recommend you read some more. Check out all the forums, develop an understanding for how things work around here, learn the "do's"; and "dont's"; The key to a happy HAMB newbie is to understand the joint BEFORE you begin posting.

We have very few written rules here on the HAMB and that's the way we like it, but we won't hesitate to dump disruptive posters, ego freaks, or shit talkers. We are all here to learn and teach - please keep your other prerogatives on the sidelines.

    ................................

    Rules:
    1. No profanity in subject lines.

    2. No political/religious/racial posts at all. No exceptions.

    3. No Porn.

    4. We cover traditional '65 and older American cars only. All other threads will be deleted. We don't cover rat rods, muscle cars, mustangs, or VWs.

    5. No commercial posts.

    ................................

    Guidelines:
    1. If in doubt, don't post it.

    2. Stay on-topic and relevant with your posts; OT posts aren't generally appreciated by our membership.

    3. Gotta easy question? Try using the search function first.

    4. While we don't require "introductions," some members do appreciate them so it might be a good idea for you to do one here. Just introduce yourself and let folks know what you are all about.

    5. As mentioned throughout these guidelines, the H.A.M.B. focuses on TRADITIONAL hot rods and customs. Posts pertaining to traditionally inspired, but not quite period perfect belong on the main forum found here. Please note that we don't focus on things such as modern fuel injected motors, big-inch wheels, frame clips, after market independent suspensions, etc... at all on the H.A.M.B.. As such, posts that stray away from the "traditional inspired" will be deleted.

    6. Posts about period correct hot rods should go here.

    7. Posts about period correct customs should go here.

    ................................

    Why Was My Post Deleted?
    1. Did you confuse the H.A.M.B. with Facebook? That we are not... Save your personal strife for your choice of social media - it doesn't belong here.

    2. Did you post a "pray for me" thread? We don't do religion here. Join this group instead.

    3. Did you disrespect another user? We believe verbal battles through the internet are bullshit and as such, we delete all that we can. Further more, if you can't express an opinion without bagging someone else's, maybe you should rethink the validity of your opinion?

    4. Did you disrespect the H.A.M.B. or a member of its staff? Feel lucky that all you walked away with is a deleted thread or post. This is the quickest way to get your account deleted.

    5. Was your thread something that has been covered over and over again? Try searching next time. We've had countless threads through the years on bias tires vs. radials, the definition of "traditional," and many other topics. We don't need to rehash what the bulk of us already know.

    And, most importantly:

    6. Was your thread about something other than traditional hot rods and customs? Aside from a few "sidebar" topics that interest the staff here, we don't allow off topic posts. Your definition of "traditional" might differ from ours. That's fine. However, this is our forum and it's our definition that the forum is run off of.
