All SEGA cars should have that done in case we ever race at a track where they require it. I always have it done so I know I won't have any problems.

Looks like the trailer tires need a little air. :)

I run a meziere remote mount electric water pump. It’s black and behind the radiator mostly hidden.

    Zak,

Please excuse my ignorance, but what are the chains for that are mounted at each end of the motor plate and at each spring pad? Are they travel limiters for the front suspension when you lift the front wheels?

Yes those are suspension limiters to help keep the nose under control especially when shifting it keeps the nose from bouncing down and rebounding up so high!

Car is coming around, qualified in 9th out of 26 cars. With a few more changes we’re gonna have a pretty good running B car for sure. Really happy with how the Enderle injection and the small 396ci bbc combo is running.

Hey Zak, do you have a picture of your dash and interior. I don’t recall having seen the inside of the 55.

It’s nothing exotic, the firewall is so far back that it is even with the dash so all I have are a small oil pressure an water temp gauge, and a tach on the dash. The tunnel and rear panels are all removable with dzus fasteners to make for easy maintenance though.

FAD75590-9135-40EA-9C4D-91A087EB5AAB.jpeg Doing a little tuning before Lyons. Gotta keep trying to find more ET because there’s 30 other cars trying to always get faster in b/Gas in SEGA. I either have to keep moving forward or fall behind!

Had a good race weekend at Lyons Indiana. Track was super hot and everyone struggled woth traction issues but we qualified 9th out of 24 and made it through first round. Through 3 races so far we’re tied for 5th in points with a tough Mike Blackwell Chevy II and Troys fast Henry J. Been a good season so far all things considered! Getting ready for our next race in Alabama now! 5DD75AE9-423E-454F-88FF-ADA7770A81A1.jpeg 7F637615-BDB9-43A7-A302-EE1B0DE92778.jpeg D7724F16-DD9B-46B7-9D3A-860F5720CB6E.jpeg 492947DC-4027-4182-A5AA-019F1CCD6360.jpeg

The 55 ran great and we qualified 8th out of 25 in the very tough B gas Class. Due to a few lucky breaks and a few hole shots, I made it down to the semi finals to face Jerry Birch in the Free Bird Chevy II for the 3rd time this season. Once again I came up a little short against the Birch Brothers and they went on to the finals against Wayne Swafford. Overall an excellent weekend of racing, and I can’t wait to get to Ohio in a few weeks!

Also while at the track I picked up another BBC injection manifold, this one is a Hilborn with 1/4” bigger butterflies, that I’m going to try out and see if there’s any power there. Also I hit the recall on my shift light after Lassiter mountain and I am turning the 396 8800 rpms, and it’s staying together so I’m happy about that! Got a few ideas for a little more oomf but most will have to wait for this winter.

Hopefully we can hang on and finish in the top 5 this year which would be a huge accomplishment! Even a top 10 is no easy task in Southeast Gassers!

Zak, congratulations on getting up in points, and like always, car is looking awesome race ready.
Maybe if you would cut off the front grill section and install the original grill, you might, might get a lower ET since the air would pass the grill section and exit faster without any restrictions.
I know that 55 can run, but any tricks might help. Some of the other competitors, don't even have grills.
Wishing you the best of Luck...

I’ve actually thought about blocking the holes off to keep it from getting any air in. I’m not sure if it would be faster not catching air/ but pushing it.

It'd be worth a try. Cut a piece of aluminum sheet to the shape of the grill, polish it and stick it on. Some double-sided 3m would no doubt hold it while you're testing.

We made a solid pass and were sitting in 7th place after first round of qualifying, but second round of qualifying we had a major engine failure. Killed #7 cylinder in 3rd gear, and even though the diaper caught the majority of the oil and water, a lot did get on the track as the hole in the block came out near the top at the freeze plug. So I got in my own fluids and did scuff the car on the wall. We already have the heads at the machine shop to freshen them up, and we started on the new short block. We ended up still holding onto a 6th place points finish and we’ll be back stronger and faster next season. This motor was a test mule for our small bore bbc platform and had heavy parts in it. Still it loved rpms and ran faster the tighter I turned it. Tattle tale read 9150rpm after this race so that’s why it failed I’d say.
