I've started my truck project with Frank "gaspumper" and its taken us a while to get it this far. Hopefully I'll be able to post every week or so and show you some progress. We are in the middle of moving to PA and we'll be racing next week in Loring Maine. Ill be looking for parts along the way also. Ok, back to work! Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Put the cross member for the rear shocks in this morning. Next will be the front shocks or drive shaft hoop. But first we're taking a week of for racing. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Just a side note. I got in my friends Factory Five Daytona and made a couple of passes. Ended up in the 2 club. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks, got that checked iff the bucket list. Now back to work on the truck. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Drilled out the spot welds and removed the seat riser. Anyone need one? Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Finally got the cab apart and set thw cowl on rhe frame. The master parts book really made the decision to do this easier. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Got the floor out of the cab and onto the frame. This will make it a lot easier to build the roll cage. The cab has wooden blocks for body mounts. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Got te drive shaft loop installed. Has anyone else built a race truck? Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Used drag racing front runners are perfect for LSR racing. Cheap at the swap meets, low rolling resistance, they can handle high pressure, and come in lots of sizes from 23 t0 28 inches tall for ride height and gearing changes.
Sat the cab back on the frame. We put the main hoop in to see how it will fit. Soon it will go to Bob Dauernheim's. He will build the roll cage. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The side bellhousing/engine mounts look solid or rigid....gonna give you some nasty vibs and resonense unless I'm missing how the brackets are attached at the frame....Looks Great
We had a similar set up in the 57 Chevy with no issues. This is the same bell housing. What do you suggest? Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The truck arrived at Bob Dauernheim's for the roll cage. Lots of discussion and planning going on here. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Having the truck at Bob Dauernheim's shop is great. He's such an artist with the metal work. He replaced a header panel that was rusted out and now we have a windshield that opens. The cab is laying on its back. Got some work done on the roll cage, too. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
More work on rhe roll cage. Looks like I can't use the original steering wheel. I was hoping I could. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Got a lot done today since we're taking the rest if the week off. Seat brackets, window net, and seat belt tabs. Did I tell you that the guy that built Bill Elliot's 200 mph NASCAR is building my roll cage? View attachment 4887907 Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Go @Marcia Go...I'd say you have the go fast bug Bigtime...and experiencing 200+ already...that's a timewarp away from the Jalopy Racing you were doing a couple of years ago...congrats...
