I think ‘56’s are great lookn trucks. But I’ve always been partial to ‘53’s , a little biased in that I grew up with this one : 44542AC7-115F-4042-963A-BB7CC7202543.jpeg

I myself, think a HAMB friendly wheel would look better, of course a Halibrand makes everything better, or like a spindle mount and ET III!
However, there are subtle changes that his dad made that make this truck really cool, in my book. OK, so now I gotta Photoshop it!

  6. Oh man, this is a can of worms. Of all the F100 designs, the '56 is my favorite. I think it started when i was 11 or 12, & i built that bronze colored Revell 56 model kit

Dad built the Revell kit for me when I was a kid, bought one but never built it a few years ago. Bob

I always thought they looked pretty neat in stock trim or mildly customized, somewhat lowered.
    That's just me tho'.

  13. Great looking trucks but I wish they had a little more room in the cab. Once you get used to stretching out in a later model truck you're spoiled forever.

The only problem I have is with the front, and maybe the rear, fender openings. If anyone doesn't like the '56 F100 take a look at the Mercury produced in Canada.... LOL

To the OG post, China Syndrome sure brings the looney tunes out of the closet.
Most truck people consider this series of trucks to be one of the best looking trucks ever built

  20. I like 53 to 55, 56 is bad cause you cant drink beer and not get caught cause of that big back window. Don't rely on me though, I quit drinking 51 years ago..

  21. Hey Ron Brown, since you have owned both the slant cab F100 and the yellow Advanced Design Chevy, which truck do you feel had more room in the cab?

I've owned 3 slant cabs, a '56 small window, 2 '56 big windows (one of them twice), yeah, only the best lookin Ford pickup EVER made. Slam em, get rid of the front fender overbite, tuck the bumpers in front and rear, of course wheels and tires, and voila, you've got yourself a winner!! And if then you still don't like their look, I guess there's no accounting for taste. Or leave em stock, they still look pretty damn good that way too. JMHO.

I've owned two(one three times ). I built the one in front in this picture 1st, then sold it. I built the second one ( behind the Willys) and that became part of a trade deal. Later I bought my 1st one back( for the third time) and this time I removed 5 inches from the rear of the chassis and shortened the bed the same. Better proportions, if you compare it with the other two F100's , I think. F100 s at Drags xm.jpg My 56 Ford bw jpg.jpg

I like them, but I have one. I'm probably in the minority but I prefer the small back window to the big back window. A nice set of wheels and a little lower than stock gives them a new attitude.

  28. I had a 53 Canadian Merc. I installed an Olds 394, and it was one of the easiest swaps I could have asked for. I always preferred the look of the 55 or 56, because somehow the square door and the wrap around windshield seemed to make the front end less overwhelming. I never thought of moving the front axle to the center of the wheel well, It looks nicer that way.
My wife made me sell it, because she never liked the look.
I always preferred the styling of the 55-57 Chev, and have owned mine for over 52 years.

I’ll admit the front end is heavy looking on the 56 pickup, but that adds to the mystic, 56’ was the best year, as with the T-Birds and the Fairlanes and the Customlines. IMG_2074.JPG . Without a doubt 56 F-100 will always be historic. Nothing went wrong. IHMO.
