I never met Jeff but poured over photos of his 57 Seville. I think that was the car I spotted forlorn in the Needles desert in ‘92.( I’d just driven from Boston in a 57 Biarritz and spied it on the edge of town. The Seville had a crunched hood and looked so sad.)
    54 is way too young.
He obviously had a big impact on many.

Been watching the service. I never met Jeff, but had to smile when the chronology of his life in pictures was shown. They showed a life well lived, as did the words spoken at the service. Sorry I never crossed his path. RIP Jeff.

I also attended that workshop with @RMONTY and @drdave and others... That weekend was my 50th birthday present from my wife, and my first time to attend anything like that. I was a bit intimidated by what I was getting into, but Jeff just treated me like we had been friends for years. He was just easy to visit with and learn from. Jeff and his family made it very memorable because of their hospitality, and reminded me of the reason I like car people... they are usually the best people.

I am really surprised to hear he has passed, and more than saddened. Condolences to his family and friends, and thank you for sharing the stories here about him and his legacy.

Watched the service today and it was quite a tribute to Jeff as a very talented guy, but more importantly great friend, husband, and father. Mick and Dennis both did a great job and it only made me wish I could have got to know him better. I didn’t realize he loved driving the old cars as much if not more than building them. Heard some great stories about his adventures. I know we would have got along great if I could have met him sooner. Continuing to pray for his family and close friends.

Condolences to you Ryan, the Myers family and friends in the passing of Jeff...he certainly was a mover and shaker in the Custom Cars as evidenced and much more...

    Regards,

It’s been a rough week for a lot of the kustom family. He will he missed by more than he ever could have known.
He was one of two guys that I bounce every dumb idea off of. The only kool that my Galaxie has is because Jeff did me a solid and gave it some panels and other Watson inspired touches for a very low price, I’ll never be kool but Jeff always made me feel like I was someone. He always thanked me for shooting photos of his builds and helping promote him. It was my pleasure and my honor to spend so much time with him and call him a friend.

Hopefully this will be ok to share the ceremony link. If not delete it...

I watched it last night in the shop. Dennis McPhail in particular had some touching words. I personally did not know Jeff and we'd never met. Billy Monroe, a fellow Beatnik that I'm friendly with, owns the '56 Chevy Jeff built and is always pointed out by my wife as her "favorite car" at local show, and I always mention to her that Jeff Myers had built it.

While cars are tie that bind us here and the common denominator between us both on this board and in real life, the reality is that after being in the game for a while, it actually flips and becomes more about the people you meet and the relationships you forge and the cars become sort of a backdrop. The custom car hobby has obviously lost a major contributor, but the ceremony drove home that Jeff was also a beloved husband, father, and friend lost far too young. I hope those close to him are doing OK under the circumstances.

  13. Thanks Mick

I first "met" Jeff back when Tim Bernsau was shooting our cars for Rod and Custom back around 2003 or so. Ever since then when I would go to a far away show where I didn't know anyone, I would see him and think "of course Jeff is here, why would that be a surprise?" and I would end up standing around and bullshitting with him. I will miss running into him everywhere I went. He was a great dude for sure. I watched the service yesterday, Mick and Dennis did a fantastic job with the memorial.

When you are a little guy looking in, you learn who these guys are early on. Knew who McPhail was years ago. Met Jeff in Salina, he told me he liked my seats. He`d comment on them every year. A tatoo`ed guy liked my flowery seats. Then one year he says he`s goona steal them. A couple years ago, I meet Sancho. I tell him the story, he tells me I should be worried. Daughter transferred collages, kinda strange, but I drove past Ark City exit on I 35 the day Jeff died. Been down that way maybe 6 times in my life. I took this picture, over 20 years ago in Nebraska not knowing who owned it. Follow your dreams and live life to the fullest, Jeff sure did. Scan0865.jpg .

Any body have the picture that was in a magazine, Jeff's Caddy with the front end just plastered with bugs? Perhaps was in Kustoms Illustrated. That is my favorite picture of his car ... shows that driving kustoms is the thing to do. Reading this thread, Jeff did just that. I shot this at the old park in Salina around 2009.
