There are probably a hundred design changes during the year, but I don't have pics of them. Everything from body panel bracing to brake pedals to dashboards to drivetrain parts. Most people only know about the 20 and 25 louver hoods.

I have an early production tudor. It was number 180 off the line at the Des Moines Iowa plant. My brother has an early production five-window. He also has an early truck, soon to be put back together by my nephew. I'm saving an early V8 frame (number 5,000ish) for a roadster project some day.

Only difference in the firewalls from 4cy to v8 was a series of holes for an engine snubber(lack of better words) for the 4cy option. The actual stamping is the same, but I have heard there is a early and later stamping with the modification on the drivers side just above where the steering column is.

I have an early 5W with the early firewall and frame. No reinforcements over the rear axle and there is a difference just above or seide where the steering column is. Forget exactly what the firewall difference is...k

Mine is a '32 4dr sedan, late body and frame. Firewall is an early one, not from this car originally. I had an early V8 frame that had the early pedal mounts.

I read somewhere that 25 louvre hoods were made for west coast cars to help with cooling. Not sure if that’s accurate though.

The photo shows the concave shelf where the vacuum canister for the proposed vacuum assisted clutch was to go. Development started and a patent was granted but it never saw production.

Slightly different width and the contour at the bottom is not the same.

This is a factory photo showing the raised panel louvers that were on the very earliest ‘32’s. A carry over from the A somebody (Edsel?) decided it made the hood too busy so those early stampings went to Europe. When they were used up the European Fords used the typical hood sides.

Any Europeans with an extra pair of raised louver hood sides can contact me for a crazy offer to purchase!

I collect all early 32 stuff I can afford. Parts in my collection other than the whole car are open louver hood sides, single finger hood hooks, tabbed brake/clutch pedal arms, straight gas pedals, innie dashboards, single rubber bumper rear horn covers, pointy inner handles, center hinge visors, firewalls, and some others I can't remember right now.

  18. Rear Axle’s are different, early is more like an A axle and late is more like a 33 34 axle. Early frames do not have the reinforcement plates in the rear of the frame to support the fuel tank. Later ones do.

I bought an extremely nice grille shell from a guy that was a little unusual. At the bottom there were no punched slots for water and sediment to drain, and the crank hole was perfectly round. Apparently an early design that didn’t make it onto many cars.

For all the information on running changes refer to David Rehor's 2 volume set of books on the 32 Ford. Packed with information.

  21. The holes for the engine snubber were there on all of the firewalls (except for a few early ones). The unused holes were left open and sealed by the firewall insulation. If the holes are missing check the inside as someone probably welded them up. Same for the hole for the bolt to mount the throttle shaft which was different between the 4 and V8. The only differences in the firewalls were minor changes during the production year but they applied to both the 4 and the V8.

  22. Sun visors were different. Early ones mounted in center and later ones mounted on ends. I believe (but am not positive) that the 3 window used the sun visors that mounted on the ends for the entire year.

Early 32 had no front “K” legs on the transmission crossmember.

Thanks Charlie for the info, not sure which I had seen in the past either the oddball few that weren't drill or possibly a front view of a firewall with holes with insulation behind making it hard to see.

597FA005-9BA1-4EDB-AB88-6483E80E8010.png As per OP questions, - pictures asked for.
Here’s an outie dash below, innie above is an ex overseas car, Argentina ? with air vents for windscreen.

one would have to wonder what the reason was to change it through such a short production run ?
I have always wondered if the plans for the tooling (sent between the 30 odd factory’s back then) were read wrong at some locations.......
