Steve Stanford posted this a while back. I had to share it on the HA.M.B. Someone needs to build this.......

In 1958, Larry Watson was looking to buy a new car to experiment with a new paint idea he had. He decided to buy a Ford Fairlane, but as we all know he was turned on to the new Thunderbird instead. The paint idea was Panel Painting, and it completely changed the approach to customizing cars as it was now not necessary to do extensive metalwork to have a custom.... just customize it with paint.

But what if Watson bought the '58 Fairlane in the first place and performed the custom changes to it instead...? And used the Custom 300 side trim to get a more T-bird look to the sides (compared to the stock, bulkier Fairlane molding).

This is my version of a possible Larry Watson 1958 Ford Fairlane custom painted hardtop.

Yes - that's Palle and Pat. I shot the pictures on the opening day of GNRS 2013. These pics among others were nearly lost since my old Mac was collecting dust until a friend of mine, an old IT expert fixed the computer. HAMB is a truly a safe haven for the photos if all the backups should chrash.
