This Chrysler used to show up at "Bob's Big Boy" in Pasadena once in a while in the early '60's. It always left the impression that it was lower than the curb; sleek, beautiful and low, low, low.
The word perfection has been used a lot on this thread about this car, and I can't think of any other word to describe it better.....
In other words: I have a 1940 Ford and a Shoebox Ford because they fit my tastes particularly well. The "Forward Look" Mopars are handsome cars too, but are less of a fit for my preferred era. That said, I think that the changes that you made to your car are perfect.
I could and have used many superlatives to describe this car but the truth is, I just wish it was mine.
I can't believe I missed this thread until now. Just got done skimming through it all, what a beautiful, bitchin' car! Wow!
Thank you for the compliments, Blues4U and 50MercMan. Much appreciated. Arominus, it's a stock '57 New Yorker cam. Pretty tame.
I too have somehow missed this thread till now. The car cam be described as nothing less than STUNNING !! You and your father have given this car a true college education. You fellas should be proud.
Thank you to @OITH-Mike for running a feature on my Chrysler in his magazine Kustom Life! It's in the December 2020 issue #29. http://kustom-life.de/magazine/kustom-life-magazine-29/ Also, thank you to Charlie and Murph for featuring the car in their magazine, Car Kulture Deluxe! It is in their January 2021 issue #104. https://www.ckdeluxe.com/ I am extremely thankful that they thought enough of the car to have it in their magazines. Keep print alive! Definitely go out and support them with a subscription or buy a copy off the newsstand.
Not only is this car “aesthetically perfect”, it’s a manual trans in a car that Shouldn’t be a stick! That’s one of the best details in my opinion.
Well deserved indeed. The car is, in a word, sublime. Congratulations. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Congrats @Gotgas...truly a Stunning Custom...and born to my eyes right here on the Hamb...we are certainly a privileged bunch to be a witness to such greatness...thanks for sharing the journey...
Yep, one of my favorite cars on the H.A.M.B. and now I too want one!! Very sweet! Congrats to you and your dad for the paint work. Regards, Randy Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
One thing I must mention is Chrysler Designers were firing on all cylinders when they drafted and molded the Clay the Day that Automobile was born... @Gotgas added an Artistic Stylization to Past Excellence and clearly achieved it... aka Mild Custom/Hotrod 1960... I just went back...Autorama 1957... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1957-chrysler-mild-custom.1093148/#post-12394743 ...Around here it's Thanks for the Trip Back...to the Yesteryear...
Well Danny, I made it all the way through this thread ( I did skip around toward the end, just a bit). I don't think your signature is valid anymore. I think you should change it.
Hey Jerry, that is a line I stole from the movie Christine. It's meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Here is a clip with the quote.
