Built in Australia by Ansett transport , under licence etc. They made 131 buses , this one is #24.
Only 5 were imported into New Zealand in 1953 .

  5. My current bus is a 1958 Bedford SB3 . I have owned it for 30yrs , done 80K miles in it :) .

Currently I'm procrastinating on finishing the repower .

I was figuring on seeing shorty school buses.. Boy am I surprised.

  9. The thing with bus stuff , is every thing is SO big and heavy.
The original diesel engine I had in the Bedford was 330 cu and about 90HP. Bloody slow old english lorry 4 spd and manual steer (but it was reliable) until it finally seized.
You know those pics of the old truckers , big guys , with broad shoulders ..... they needed to be to swing that huge old steering wheel ... HA!
Repower is Nissan Condor FE6B , 6.9L and 180HP, 6 speed and power steer . Gonna be shear luxury LOL.
