Wow, Denny, thanks for the compliment!
Bought it in '10, as a 36k mile, 265 / PG, original, and built it into what I would have when I graduated HS in '65, had I had any money.

Been working a little on mine, mostly the interior right now. New carpet, the fancy Daytona weave that was in the car. Bought some chrome reversed wheels from fireman Gordy here on the board. Getting tires next week. Picked up some lowering springs and some other parts. I get a smile just looking at it as I've wanted a '55 post for a long time. I really get a smile when I think of the fact that it's all original (except for the 283) paint, interior, and zero rust.
77,XXX original miles or there about.
Fabed up a little mount for dads old plaque too before the interior goes back in.

Always like black 55's but the satin two tone on the other 55 really is a welcome change.
How about some more interior shots of both cars, engines too.

DG 55 Chev.png This was my cousins car, back in the late 60's or early 70's, a home brew Dodge beam axle and everything from a 283 to an L88. It rode so rough it gave me a headache:( His story was he had to sell it because the cops kept stopping him and harassing him about the paint job.

I can attest that the @alfin32 55 is a really well done, subtle, and tidy car.

My Delray came from the Pacific North West and was not subjected to extreme heat or lack of humidity. Most of the paint is original and the whole interior is as GM manufactured it in October '54. One owner and well cared for it was a lucky find. SAM_0292.jpg SAM_0291.jpg

That car is pretty much perfect. I think I could get used to that color, too.

    I sold the Bel Air sedan and bought a 150 straight axle car IMG_20191020_092558715_HDR.jpg IMG_20190814_185011626_HDR.jpg IMG_20190720_172234878_HDR.jpg thumbnail_IMG_20201130_140731191_HDR.jpg interior.jpg thumbnail_IMG_20201101_152400349_2 (1).jpg

My dad almost bought me a ‘55, don’t recall the model, in about 1974 or ‘75. I was 14 or so and saw it in the local paper. 150 bucks, Muncie 4 speed, no engine. We go look at it, my dad has cash in his pocket. The rear wells had some funky lips put on it, sorta curled up and out. At that age I was enamored with the Diamond tuck seats. Would have still been a cool car.
Dad said “naw, they fucked it all up with the lips they put on it”

Oh well, close as I ever got.

  14. Cannot wait to see it with the new wheels. True reversed chrome wheels on a '55, perfect!
Enlarged the pic, didn't see the valve stem hole. Not visible or really on the back side?
    Love your car.

My current project, I believe its decoded as a 210 Del Ray Club Coupe, but I really don't know difference from a regular 210 sedan.

image.jpeg image.jpeg Should a standard 210 have carpet, or rubber mat?

  20. On US built cowl tags, the STYLE code will show a 1011 for a regular 210 2dr sedan & 1011A for a Delray club coupe. It's my understanding that the interior styling is the only difference between a standard 210 2dr & the Delray 2dr. I can't remember for sure, but I think the standard 210 2dr had a rubber floor covering, while the Delray had a carpeted floor.

The former owner installed carpet, but it doesn't seem correct, and I like the look of the rubber mat if it's correct. Thanks.

Thank you and yes the stems are on the back side. They're off Gordy's daughters car and from what he said she didn't like having to get under the car to check the pressure.
Here's the car they came from....super nice.

I also got the spiders with the wheels.

  24. I think that was Roy Brizio's '55 and the whitewall is part of the wheel.

Someone didn't like the billet wheels on the gold 55, that's ok, kind of expected it, I'm not one to get wadded panties over it, what's more important is that the focus of the thread stays OT.
    I'll play nice!

The 55 chevy has been my dream car since I was about 12 years old. Closest I ever got was building models of them.

Alfin32 is a good friend of mine and I've ridden in, even driven, that '55 many times. It's really not that great and I've told him he should just dump it. He won't sell it to me though. Go figure!
