Plated to boot...I always thought the oddball stuff on the road was a newer phenomenon but I don't think so...

  14. Terrific thread, Stogy...go, man, go!

As I was reading through it, I noticed the movie poster on page 6:
    wild ride 1 sheet.jpg
And then noticed this roadster on page 9:
    FB_IMG_1589311951405.jpg
The poster-designer was obviously inspired by the photo and included things like the steering wheel spoke and the reflection in the side of the changed-to-pickup body! Wouldn't you like to know the backstory on this one?

Nitro, thank you and I must say you have a very good eye...I have over the years here made connections to images and quite frankly it is a revelation to connect dots because the history becomes clearer...I must say that Artist knew what they were doing as the detail and conversion were spot on...I wonder if there was a Roadster Pickup in the Movie?

I just came across this thread, not sure if these have been posted yet. However, I always thought this was the baddest street roadster in all the land. 20200229_173925.jpeg 20200304_090831.jpeg 20200302_114346.jpeg

I believe that is the Berardini Roadster @loudbang posted above and yes it has has been a Looker all along with admirable lineage, no doubt about it...

Yes, it is the Berardini roadster, however this version is no comparison. The fenders are much better in this revision. I helped restore the Berardini version and I am restoring the Jeano Lacoste version now. These fenders are cool. 20200304_090738.jpeg

I'm a little confused, I know it was sold at auction in the restored version similar to Loudbangs post but is there a tribute clone you are involved in as well Bob?

So you worked with Rex on the Salt Licked Jet Black version...pretty darn cool to be that up close and personal with such Hotrod royalty indeed...;)

My dad (Dave Crouse) and myself are Custom Auto. Custom Auto restored the 404 roadster to the Berardini version. Rex was an employee and part of the crew at Custom Auto. All the parts to the Jeano Lacoste version were not used in the previous restoration inorder to keep the restoration accurate. Attached are a few pics of the parts to the Lacoste/Tabuchi version of the roadster. Including original upholstery and hood with original paint. 20200303_133849.jpeg 20200303_134240.jpeg 20200303_134004.jpeg 20200303_134100.jpeg

Beyond cool Bob...the respect given to these classic gems with such ties to past Excellence are heartwarming...thank you and your team for your part in preservation of that time I can only envision as I wasn't there...are you able to share this build with us?...seeing those parts wow...Hotrod Diamonds...;)

I guess sometimes with these powerful statements to the past picking a period look can be challenging when there were several admirable states of being...

Thank you. I am gonna try the hamb. I love to share what I am doing in the shop. Magazines are dead, however I will be participating in shows in the near future. Thanks Stogy, great idea for a thread. Here is my shop truck with cycle fenders. Gonna paint it this summer. 20200229_160816.jpeg
