Taking the winter to tighten up some loose ends on my Dads 32 . Working with my Dad and son in law to get it done before spring. It got a new Vega box and triangulated 4 link in the rear. Dad picked out one of the best blues I’ve seen. Engine and tranny taken out for some fresh paint. Anyone got any ideas on some homemade garnish moldings for a glass car??... here’s a couple pics of progress. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
cheddar, "Anyone got any ideas on some homemade garnish moldings for a glass car??..." Being a glass car can't you buy glass window garnish moldings from one of the companys that still make 5 window bodies? What part of Missouri are you from? I'm in Sedalia.
Nice car and you are a lucky guy... old enough to have a son-in-law... .young enough to still have your Dad around.
I have a friend that has an original set that are chromed for sale . Let me know if interested. Not cheap but nice. Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
@cheddar you fooled me I thought this Coupe was a survivor...it really has the look of a late 50s Hotrod...luv the bobbed fenders...are you going to run period Bias Plys to go with the era?
Yeah dad plans on bias ply wide whites and thanks this is what it’s all about!! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Ok thanks for the heads up! As of right now we’re gonna try our hand at making some. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
You want to make some??... why not make them out of plywood...you could bandsaw/ jigsaw the correct shape, use a router for some rounding over of the edges ...when done you could paint a coat or two of fiberglass resin on and sand smooth....
I like the ply wood idea! This is Dads 40. Built by Mike Johnson “Bondo” And one pic of what it looks like today and years back.. maybe early 80s with flames! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Aww, ok. Just thought you wanted some. I've thought about making some out of wood and covering them in whatever the interior is. I was going to do it to a T coupe. I haven't gotten to it though, so don't know how it would work out.
Almost as hard to find as '32s, but '31 Ford (briggs & Murray) Model A Slant Window Sedans front door garnish moldings will work on a '32 5 window door .
We’re getting some things done this rainy Saturday. We Stuck the motor and trans in, Absolutely no problems with the steering box fit.[emoji1303] Got the drive shaft in and hooked up shifter linkage. Dad got the cokers on the back and we lowered the back about an inch. Josh (son in law) got all the trimming done to make the headers fit..Enjoy Can’t wait til next week! Looking really sharp @cheddar are you running 1/2 fendered only or considering Spare Ring/Cycle Style Fronts? Your backs remind me of the 404jr roadster...awesome...
You might try Tom Bay in Ark City Ks he makes some glass moldings, I'm not sure about the 5w.His # is 620 441 7432
