to answer your questions, the cutout in the body for the exhausts has been plated to join it to the inner panel, but that’s it. It was discussed whether to put a bead around it but decided that with the way the car was built it wouldn’t have been done, so it was left as is. The driver side header has a small section on the last pipe that is removable. This allows the starter to be removed without taking the whole system off. The rest of the pipes can then be pulled back a bit and drop straight down. The dish piece you mention was formed on a wheeling machine (English wheel) from a half round. Once I had the right shape I then flattened the outer and inner flanges. Pete.
Wow, what nice work. Thanks for documenting the original work and keeping the skid plate. Can't imagine how on earth you welded and ground those grille bars back together.
That's one bad ass coupe. After reading through your post for the first time, I need to go back and read again. Real professional workmanship.
sadly there’s nothing of this car on my Instagram. As I’m building it for someone else I don’t post up anything. Only posted on here at his request. there is an album of all the photos from the build on my FB. https://www.facebook.com/100005233001002/posts/1668310180020066/?extid=0&d=n
When you sectioned the grille, how did you go about it without warping the bars. They are so flimsy just looking at them, they almost want to start moving.
Excellent job, Pete. Excellent work, Rick. A pleasure to view these pics and see some real skill in action. What's not so pleasant is the realisation I will never reach these levels. I look forward to whatever you decide you want to post. Mart.
That car just looks so right. In my head, I always go back and forth... would I want a 32, or a 34? A 32 would have to be fenderless, and a 34 needs fenders. Im not thinking that way anymore. That car has changed my mind on the fender idea. Great job!
Very nice work that car just looks awesome in every way you don’t see very many channeled 34’s like that I love it. Keep up the great work and thank you for preserving some history. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Very nice save, especially the frame. Here i thought the frames ive dragged home were bad, yours takes the cake. Very nice work, all around
I'm really digging this build! Very clever and well executed process. Thanks for sharing, I look forward to more. Like Mart said previous, my skills will never be that good, but its fun to try.
SPECTACULAR! I remember seeing that car in Dan Collins' shop when he owned it. It had a scattershield made from a cut down truck rim.
