Thanks guys about Jodie, my wife and I miss her terribly. If you have been to either Bonneville or El Mirage for a SCTA meet since 2009 you might have met our dog, she loved going racing and everybody she saw!

She was the most photographed doggie on the salt! These were taken I think in 2011 while we were waiting at the starting line for Poteet to make a 400 mph run. The photographer, Amy Horn, sent them to us!

Lot of spares! Looking forward to seeing how you revive this cool old gasser! Those floor pans have a lot of gaps between them, and I found my set lacking a lot of metal here and there that I had to either use some of the stock floor where it was good, or just hammer and fabricate fillers where needed on mine. But they will give a great starting point to getting all new floors.

That’s cool RatPwrd! Please post more pictures or start your own thread. Maybe we can convince Quain to come out West and start the SAGA (Southern Arizona Gasser Association)! Did you hear that Tucson will be the only drag strip in Arizona pretty soon? They are going to bulldoze Firebird and build an outlet mall for the shopping convenience of the casino patrons......

The Pink Slip says it’s a 37 but of course there is no VIN, they used the engine number for the Pink Slip. PO said he bought it as it sits with the 38 front end. I’ll post a picture of the Pink Slip in a minute, it’s gotta get to me thru a cloud storm!

Ive been holding off on starting a thread yet. I just bought the car in Dec......the ONLY good thing last year!!!
Its still in TX at a buddys shop, so I havent been able to really look it over good and take a bunch of pictures yet.
Hopefully before summer hits out here, I can go get it. Going off what the guy said I bought it from, my buddy who has it now, and all the pictures, it is in very good shape, solid rust free, complete, all 4 fenders are cherry, the grill is very good. Going to build a tribute to my Dads, 60s style hot rod/gasser. That is me in June of 1969 leaning on the fender of my Dads Im 3yrs old. Yeah really bums me out about Firebird, had my 12 sec big block Chevelle down that track hundreds of times. Loved going there to see the big Nitro cars, wanted to take the 37 there when done to carry the front wheels!!

    6-Oakland Plant.
    GB-Master 85 Passenger coupe
    C4-March 4th.
Paint code 219 is Brookhaven Blue

My 1939 coupe also has the old engine number on the title, so when it got titled here it had nothing on the body that matched the title number. It was missing the tags also, so I had to purchase them new and stamp them to match the title to get it registered here.

    Yes, the 37-1217 confirms it's a 1937 car.

Has a Corvair steering box setup cross steer. Anybody able to ID the spindles? I’m pretty sure they are Ford cuz front hubs are 5 on 5.5 but would be nice to know for sure.

Box is mounted kinda crudely but it is triangulated with the old left side motor mount.

Front axle looks pretty stout, would be nice to know who made it.

Do these look like the factory front springs? And I really like these old spiral front shocks, too bad the right one is bleeding oil... AB80FF8F-BBD9-477A-A14A-7DD7448507E1.jpeg

The stock Chevy front and rear leaf springs are thin, and quite a few leafs also. If I recall correctly my rears were 9 leaf, but very thin. Both are 1.75" wide stock. Those look like 7 leaf springs, and guessing they are stock also. Being a Master 85, vs. a Master Deluxe, your car came with front leaf, vs. the Master Deluxe that came with coils, and knee action shocks.

The stamped numbers/letters on the top plate is your vin numbers. (6GBC4 17995)
    No numbers on the frame.
Somewhere there is a sketch of there plates showing the info (maybe the Chevy manual site). I found it someplace.

Mine sat up like a stink bug in the rear with the stock springs when I bought it! I thought somebody added leafs to it when I counted how many were there! I took all but the main leaf out, and redrilled the center hole 2" back. I had a set of leaf springs from a late 50's Chev pickup, and I used 3 of those to make up a 4 leaf set. The Chevy trucks have pretty flat springs, so lowered it a lot. But I still added 1" box rectangle tube to my perches on the 8.8" Ford axle to get it another inch lower in back.

I’m thinking late 72 or early 73 cuz I see a 73 El Camino in this picture...

The main leaf and a few of the lower leaves look stock . It looks as if some one added 2 , the second and third leaves are not stock . These old Chebbies had a strange bushing and pin arrangement . I can for sure see the front pin is stock . Once you get tinkering with the pins and bushings you will understand what I define as strange . These frames aren’t super strong , have and x members been added as the frame goes back to the rear ? Good Luck, I had one of these and a couple for parts at one time .
