Filled the old steering box holes! American side! And the British Side! (Sorry Bonnie 34’) Just gots finish the outside rail! Ran out .030 right in the middle of the job! Switched to .025 had to play with the settings several times, or I would got more done! But moving along Brakes all done a few more welds and Paint the frame!!!! Yup! I just got a weld a few capture nets, and finish the outside where those holes are plugged, then it’s paint! The front has already been rebuilt right before it was shut down, so I just have to clean it up and paint it and then reinstall it, then I just got a clean the rear end housing and take apart the leafs and clean and paint them put some new poly liner reassemble the rear end, and then it’s just a matter of reassembling the chassis. Except for the plumbing part, but I got that nickel copper blend, so it ought to flare real nice, and Bend real nice! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Get an extra length and use it to learn bending. I've heard here on HAMB and from people in real life that the copper blend stuff bends well by hand but is not as smooth when using tools. Oh, and ALWAYS double check that the fitting is installed BEFORE flaring!
To paraphrase Dolly Parton—it costs a lot of money to look this trashy. Do what makes you happy. I have a patina paint job on my ‘33 and I never have to cringe when I hear a rock hit or some one sets a beer on it. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Finally Finished the holes, also went back and built up the low spots on the inside patches! Flipped her over, gonna weld the capture nuts tomorrow, then wipe her down for paint! Getting Excited! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Now we getting Somewhere!!! Love that industrial paint but Boy is it Messy! And it tacks Pretty Quick! But it self levels if you do it right! I got some runs and Crap, but oh well! It will never rust again! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Im not to bright! Did not even cross my mind that the paint would go through my clothes! The wife had to put on rubber gloves and scrub my Back and Butt cheeks with paint thinner! Lol! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Better than hot slag in the bag... Truly we wear what we use eh!! Hope you fellas cleaned out your fingernails this weekend for your sweeties eh!!
Slag in the bag,,heh heh.....My photo was taken a few years ago while taking chemo...lost all my hair for awhile. It came back even stronger and it's dark brown instead of the gray it had been. Strange.
It started through an open shirt rolling molten metal is scary...paint sucks too, sealants in hair...Rocky your a good sport hope things are going okay your way...getting old is a journey no matter who we are...varsol isn't Oil of Olay neither is paint...
Man I wish you guys could see how smooth this paint turned out after it’s settled and cured! If it wasn’t for the frame having all these pits and factory flaws it would be perfectly smooth like glass! Pictures inside suck! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
...A pretty sizable Milestone...big pat on the back on that 33...ewe...paint... Seriously you're a really motivated Hamber...you could bottle that energy and sell it by the pound... Go @33Doll Go...
Thanks! Hopefully if there aren’t to many regular boring life interruptions this Weekend maybe I can get rear-end housing cleaned, drilled and weld a drain plug in, maybe paint??? Then While it’s drying... take apart the rear spring, clean sand, and round the edges Of the leafs, for less binding, And new poly... We will see... Regular chores always get in the way! Now that I got the new 33 Doll plates... I’m going to “attempt” for the fourth time to go to the DMV tomorrow, and finally get that sucker in my Name! Pray for me!!! (Especially my attitude!) YAAAAYYYYYY!!!!! Finally!!!! In My Name!!! With. The 33’ Doll plates! I actually like the black and yellow is better than the original blue and yellows from the 70s anyway! (I can finally exhale though when the pink slip actually shows up in the Mail!) Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Congrats, must feel great to get that out of the way! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes sir! And I can’t believe I got to see the same gal again to help me the first time I just showed her the plates and she remembered me from last year!! For all of you out of California that’s like unheard of to see the same person! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Frame is all done, and set up for assembly! Just gotta clean/rebuild the rear-end! ( Which will be easy bought all new guts!) then clean and paint the front End. ( it was rebuilt right be for it was shut down in 95’ I actually did most of it, if I recall? I know I did the spring. And reamed and replaced king pins, Honed, the old wheel cylinders, they are shot now. Funny how These things slowly come back to me. I remember rebuilding the spring specifically rounding the edges, and putting a little taper on the bottom side so they don’t dig in, using the poly. Wow 95 was a long time ago! Doesn’t seem that long! Gonna do the same thing to the rear Spring. It also brings back memories of building models, just just life-size now LOL! I hope you guys have been enjoying this whole thing with me!? I tend to get sentimental, and ramble a bit sometimes, and post a buttload Of pictures! Sometimes I get off track a little bit, but it always comes back to this car! Peace! -Rick Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Frame came out really nice. That industrial Rustoleum has a nice finish. Are you going to use it for the rest of the suspension parts?
No, Im using dupliclor Graphite wheel paint, and a Duplicolor cast aluminum For a tu-tone effect. Although that rustoleum paint would be great for a truck to protect the underneath. Its thick, and Dries like porcelain. I’m sure have to scrape some of that were things bolt together cause it’s pretty thick But I know the frame will never Rust again in my lifetime!” Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
