Hot Rods Steering Stops Needed?

I've improved the 48 Ford steering by replacing the old steering gear with a GM 91 Camero power unit, (had to notch the frame to make fit.) and installing the Speedway Motors disk brake fit using GM calipers and Ford truck disks. Problem is the Speedway adapter plate hits the steering stop on the right side.
I could just cut a notch in the adapter plate, but my dim memory recalls that the Saginaw gear has internal stops. So, do I really need the stops bolted to the kingpins?
    Thanks for advice.

I’ll go look at my kids ‘89 in a bit and see if it has stops. Should be the same type box you used.

Appears the lower a-arms are the stops.

Be best if you just shorten the stop nut to suit.

I don't think that Saginaw was designed to take the continual beating on relying on the internal steering stops. I had a used IH pickup (Saginaw power steering if my memory is correct) that had a steering stop that was adjusted wrong. The case of the power steering box eventually cracked at the lock ring groove (the end where the internals are loaded into the box). Fortunately, I had a parts truck out back.
