Hello 54, You have a good eye from that little old blurry photo. The show was somewhere in So Cal during the 1959-60 era. Those usually popped up in high school parking lots, empty grocery store lots, and at the local municipal auditoriums that had large enough lots for everyone. Jnaki Those were the times for us little kids and teens. The creativity was pretty cool for back then. They were the pioneers of the custom car world, that is for sure...
I belive the 40 sedan is Dave Cunningham's, sandwiched between Dave Bugarin's Merc and Bud Lehner's radical 39? convertible. Mick
I absolutely think this is the best 40 coupe I know of (other than Cushenberry's El Matador). It was for sale but to expensive for my pittance of retirement pay. It has an extensive history in this area going back to fifties. Local to the Tacoma Washington area.
Some builders absolutely nailed it and others overreached with their odd-quad headlight treatment. Here’s mine, circa 1964. A little simplistic, but typical of a mild street custom at the time.
@Moriarity I guess we can call the above pic Tri-Tri-Fives? OR, Tri-Tri-Quad-Fives? Whatever ... Congrats on another cool custom added to you collection!
