History Does anybody have cool pictures of family members cars ?

My Grandpa was just plain cool here’s a picture of him and one of his many race cars back in the day that’s a circle track 27 Ford no roll bar or any safety equipment. My mom said she would watch him from the stands as a little girl racing around then he would leave the track and hit the bars with his race buddies and my Grandma and her would go bar to bar trying to track him down to go home, The real wild one.

I’m the little guy wearing a red shirt. The car is a ‘30 Model A, which my father and a friend upgraded with a ‘53 Mercury engine.

 

Older Brothers 289 Ford Powered 40...(1968)...

 

Awesome pictures! It’s great seeing pictures of family and the cars they built or worked on you all should be very proud knowing your family had a part in pioneering a culture we all love.

This is my great grandfather sitting behind the wheel (about 1910). He was the first Paterson NJ police mechanic. He was in charge of ordering the police cars and all maintenance for the cars.
He is wearing the black derby in the other picture and the other guys are detectives.

 

Ones on topic......one not so much. My son with “now” his 1940 Chevrolet taken off the Salt and drag strip and him with his two sons at Mohave Valley Speedway..

 

The first one is my father’s and the second is my uncles.

I have plenty of pictures but no scanner.

 

Me in my Uncles model A roadster in San Diego circa 1950. He ran it regularly at El Mirage and I have the dash plaques to prove it. He was an early member of the San Diego Roadster Club. Got that dash plaque as well.

Take a picture of your pictures with a smart phone and then crop them to the size of the photo. Then you can post them here.

If you wait until you are home with your home computer or laptop, then you can scan the original photo to one or the other in your photo files. Then copy the photo, make it clearer on the built-in photo program of either home desktop computer or laptop. Now, resize them to get a clear shot of the old photo.



Your posted photo is too large to be clear, so you need the original to scan and correct the size. The Iphone, as good as it is, can resize any photo. But, if the original is blurry, there is so much any quality phone program or home computer program can do for the photo.

My wife's Iphone takes some super photos. But, has to resize them to compose the photo for best results. Sometimes, she just sends the photo if it is ok in size or composition, even if it is a photo of an old photo.

If you have time, scan all photos into your home computer files or laptop files. Now, you can take your time to resize or crop a photo for clarity. Also, if you have a large 2TB or larger external hard drive, scan or copy those valuable family photos onto those drives for a back up and label them as an "emergency take" since it has all of your important papers scanned and family photos saved for posterity. Everything else is replaceable, but not 50 year old history, current family photos, and memories.

I just purchased a couple of new faster 4tb external hard drives for our emergency backup of all family files, old and current photos, as well as other papers, tax, property files and car stuff. (one is red, the other black) They are 2" x 3", about 1/2 inch thick, so they fit nicely in a pouch labeled "Emergency Take."

They fit in jacket pockets easily and are protected from moisture or elements. But, the location is known to all inside the house where they are as part of the "get out of the house" emergencies that pop up now and then... They are in a "GO" bag. (until the next month backup is done.) YRMV

My dad in 1938 with his 29 Ford roadster. Chopped top, Crager over head, Winfield carbs, Chrysler grille, bobbed fenders and much more. And mom with the car too.

 

This is my Grandfather, he was a driver and service manager for the Pierce-Arrow Company. Seen here driving a Pierce-Arrow in Colorado on the Glidden Tours 1907-09 criteria

Here are a couple of really old pictures of some of my family members.
#1 is a picture of my grandfather driving a 1901 Orient Buckboard.
#2 is my grandfather and grandmother in their 1903 Stevens-Duryea taken about 1910.
#3 is a pic of my dad's 1940 Buick Century he bought new.
#4 is mother (girl in the middle standing up)with some friends.Not sure of the year.
#5 & #6 are pictures of my mother & aunt(#5)in my uncle's speedster. Have no idea what it was built from but has a custom body from the 1920's.

 

Definitely not a Hudson. That's a 1919 Columbia Six with Disteel wheels.
The Louvers on the hood sides are a dead giveaway.
