  1. I don't know about you but images like this are the most beautiful ever created. Never get tired of looking at them.

I've always been detail oriented when it comes to looking at hot rods, so yes, I appreciate a photo like that. I see what might be a home made valley cover, a radiator hose crossover tube, reversed Corvair box, a dirty block and more. Not a slam on the block, that only shows a car that is driven and enjoyed, rather than held up on a pedestal to be looked at. Built at home with attention to detail, the tilt front end, some chrome and the choice of front wheel all say Gasser, no mistaking it.

  3. AGREED! Much better than a show chrome trailer queen. Also special notice to the fact it's street driven a good bit is the creature comfort of A.C. in a very compact unit. I like it a LOT!

  4. Not dirty as much as paint just worn off. Been on the road since '95. Am in the process of engine upgrade - installing big-port, big-valve truck heads to replace the small 331 heads. Lets me put on 2" fender dump headers with 5" collectors like a gasser should have. Also adding bump-out Marine valve covers to complete the look. Will squirt a fresh coat of paint where I can reach on the block. Totally a vanity rebuild.

I always spend time looking at the "bones" of a build thread, sometimes even sorry to see them covered up with a body.

That looks more like the real world than your Mysterion build.

I prefer cars with complete and running motors

  11. Yep, for sure. This is my baby, bought it from grandson of original owner in '64 as a HS sophomore for $75. Got the 331 hemi engine from another classmate for $25. Had to work all summer to earn the $100. This is the realization of my teen dream Willys gasser, fell in love with them reading rod mags at the mag rack at the grocery store. Definitely not a show stopper (or even show attender!!) but my soulmate.

I've seen your Willys at Bakersfield sooo many times. It's always great to see it there. amazing that you've had it all these years. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with as a new gasser exhaust.
Living near Stockton/Lodi I totally get the A/C. All my cars have classic black interiors and no A/C, in the central California summer it's mighty hard to live with.

  15. Beautiful ? Not real sure about that. But I do understand it. I love the image, and your Willy's too! I'm also kinda sentimental. Here's one of our old family driver. Also not a show car. Just a driver for taking the kids to the park, weddings, and just every day driving. { I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder };) 716.jpg 114.jpg 600.jpg

  16. that is beautiful. Several years ago my wife drove a '56 Bel Air Sport HT. We got it at the Pomona swap meet, was the prior year's Concourse car show winner. We had a certificate to display it as the center piece of the next year's show. Gorgeous car. If you aren't familiar with the model (we weren't) the Sport HT is a 4-dr but the same length as a 2-dr. Don't know why, we never took good pics of it!! Note the solid California bumper.

  18. I don't know but I find this kinda sexy. Shows it's Just a Car and nothing else. They all need some special attention and a little T.L.C. once in a while.
