This is a better pic of a '28 Whippet firewall. Note the position of the 5 vertical beads and the holes. I think you are seeing a trick of the light on the rolled edge of the firewall and mistaking it for a bead....... The OP's pic is a little hard to make out, but I am definately leaning toward 1928 Willys Whippet Model 96.
...Actually that Whippet engine bay pic you posted has a grey pump or filter on the passenger side and if you look towards the center there is a wiring hole and you can see them both on Ole rusty... The bumper looking solid perhaps has an accessory gravel shield in the center...I still question the front fenders lacking the details of the clearer samples and the beltline under the door handle but maybe it had a double pinstripe back in the day...
The fenders and bumper do look more like the ones used on the tourer model. It wouldn't be the first time (or the last) that parts on hand from different models in the range were used together at the end of a model run. Waste was a dirty word back then.........
A lot of the details are consistent with the Whippet: Fenders, firewall windshield header, fender style hinges, door handle location, door shape, etc. I think the "Double Body Line" might be the top and bottom edges of the raised body line. As far as bumpers go...its nearly 100 years old. Anything could be swapped on at this point

I believe we're looking at a 1928 Durant Star M-2 the door handle and hinges are in the right place and the fenders are similar...hard to find a GOOD photo of a two door but here's the Quattro port version for comparison.
Nope. Looks very similar but the door hinge position is not even close, and the Durants of the era had only three hinges. The mystery car has four hinges, just like the Willys Whippet, and in the exact same locations. There were not many marques that had four door hinges. Most only used three, which narrows it right down. I'm sticking with '28 Whippet.
A debatable no to this...why the components on the firewall are similar but the notable holes are absent that are visible on the OP and the first 1928 shared by @twenty8 ...further to the pump or filter noted earlier the highest area circled is the hole the line passes through the firewall and the circle just below it is the upper mount fastener location for that black cylinder... ...this is the 29...now I'm doubting myself...You fellas are good so I will share this to muddy my initial observations above, TB might be correct...the very poor pics are most responsible for the confusion in my opinion...I mean looking at the 29 the double raised areas on the front fenders are non existent on the OP...
That's not the same bumper. The mystery car has a spring bumper similar to the one shown on the Chevy earlier, except that its missing its bracketry and center bolt plate: In any case, I think the spring bumper is an aftermarket piece anyway. It isn't a Whippet. On the Whippet, the bead that goes down the side of the car wraps around under the windshield. On the mystery car, a blend panel slopes down from the bottom of the windshield to the back of the cowl. In this case: Whippet bad! He'll be here all week folks...
I think it's safe to say it's a Willys. Most likely a Whippet. Which model though? I have seen a Willys Knight that the firewall matches practically identically. But there's other things that don't line up such as the number of door hinges. Maybe a Whippet that got the Knight firewall for some unknown reason. The bolt ons for the whippet and knight seem like the same but reversed on the firewall.
It looks like @61gasser needs to risk breaking some trespassing laws or get one of those monster zoom lenses for his camera.
That's quite the driver side sun visor... Observation against...just studying the Hotrod material even if it's rare...I think it is...the stamped inset around the driver side windows seems absent on Ole Rusty see the plank propping the DS upper quarter... How many NA Manufacturers were there in 27/28?
I blew up the pic and of "Ole Rusty" to 500% and I believe I see the inset feature around the windows and the feature under the windshield previously stated in SR100 post. Maybe someone versed in photoshop can enhance the photo of "Ole Rusty" for those of who might think we are or are not seeing things. HG you've switched to bold text......being somewhat PS literate enhancing a shit pic is a little fruitless...your 28 Whippet still ticks most of the boxes to date...I wish the OP would offer up a few better images...doubt sucks...
