  14. Many years ago, a friend of mine from southern California, ( Richard Teubner ) hauled cars for a living. He went to Lou Bratton's to haul his Willys. The Willys had not been paid for, So Richard bought it on the spot. Richard offered the Willys to me for $ 2500. It was a race car, I wanted a street car, so I passed. That was a bad move on my part. The last that I know of the Willys ended up in the Worcester, Mass. The person that got the Willys cut the rool bar out of it, and converted it to a street car. Several years ago I sold Lew Bratton an NOS outside door handle for a new Willys coupe that he was building. I finally got to meet Lou at the Turlock, California swap meet several years ago.

The Vitamin C- ran at Quaker City in Salem Ohio in the mid 60's. My Uncle and Grandpa worked at Frederick Dodge and helped out with it on occasion so my Dad and I were invited to the track to watch it run when I was a little guy. A few years ago when we met my wife's birth mother (she was adopted) I was talking cars with her husband and found out that my wife's Uncle drove the Willys during that time. Sadly Billy Gorvet was killed in action in Vietnam. This picture hangs in my garage next to William Gorvet's service plaque. garage picture.jpg

  23. Joe and Tom Hrudka (Hurdka Bros.) Were The Mr. Gasket company. Peters and Dave Meal were partners in that coupe. I believe Dave Meal was a chassis builder.

  29. Charlie Hills Filthy Forty. Charlie gave strict orders that the car never be washed. LOL. This was a very strong running car with Pork Zartman at the wheel.
