Nice car! Inheriting an original 1932 Hot Rod is perhaps the best way to get one.
Funny thing about this poll, you can vote up to 2 times for a yes or no choice.

Welcome to the HAMB! Nice car, nice details from back in the day. Everyone would update and fine tune things, but having a family car is super rare and special. Bob

I love it just the way it is. This is the HAMB and is all about preserving the past. Tell us a little more about your grandpa and the story behind the car.

It needs a respectful adjustment and period addition here and there but what an incredible treat to our Hotrod eyes...the period pics put the incredible heritage within...and it's yours...you are very fortunate @BrassMonkey1984...congratulations...

I sure hope you got to spend some time with grandpa over the years...did any caps, pipes, top or any other heirlooms get passed on with this? Grandpa was a bonafide Hotrodder...cool car...I picked yes and no just for the shiny missing and the minor adjustments to bring it back to Grandpas Finest...;)

Welcome to the Hamb...I love the headlight Stands wishbone ends I think...

  9. Think it's really cool just how it sits - fenders and all - it's how it rolled legally back in the day !

That's a very unique car. It has a different look. It's really amazing to see how different these cars can look. With the wide spread, somewhat high head lights, it has a sinister look to it. The axle choice and placement contributes to this as well.

It's a special car. It's a real car that is definitely not B-O-R-I-N-G....(That's an inside joke.)

    Thanks for sharing.

You are a lucky guy. To be able to enjoy something that was your grandfathers pride and joy is really something to appreciate. Have fun.

East coast deuce (2)_LI.jpg Cool car with a real history. I'd say it has a real "East Coast" vibe with the axle setup. Meaning that a lot of East Coast Model A V8 and 32 Fords used 39/41 front axle, springs and brakes to get juice brakes rather than swap the spindles and brakes to the early axle like west coast guys did. That may not be perfect by today's standards but it absolutely shows he car's hot rod heritage.

Amazing to get one as an inheritance - usually it's an old, undesirable 4 door!
Not a huge fan of the spring in front - makes the wheelbase look unnaturally short but I guess it does speak to another era, along with the too-high headlights and bobbed rear and cycle front fenders...

If my dad built that I wouldn't change anything. Awesome that that you have that in your possession brother.

  21. You're a lucky guy to have a '32 (a lot of peoples Holy Grail of Hot Rods) that was built/passed down to you from within your family.
That being said, I appreciate what others are saying "don't change a thing", but personally your grand father built the car to his taste, and I'm sure could appreciate you doing the same with it.
It comes down to conflicting feelings, sentimental vs changing it to your taste.
If in the same position, I'd "make it my own" and enlarge the original as built pictures, to present with the car, showing how it has evolved over the years, giving credit where credit is due to its history/original builder.
I've never been able to leave a car as bought without changing things to my taste..history be damned..I guess I'm just not a sentimental guy.

  24. Before you do anything, take pictures of EVERYTHING! Then post them on here for everyone to see what a TRADITIONAL hot rod was. Most people on here think that typical traditional hot rods were ALL like what appeared in magazines.....not so! They were built using what was available and suited the purpose. Yours is a prime example. Make changes carefully.
And..... drive and enjoy it! (while monitoring safety issues)

Man, I really like it, but...

that spring in front brings the front axle back, what, 3-4 inches?

I can't shake off that "stubby" look.

  26. A perfect time capsule BUT, the spring in front gets me as well. Velkommen to the HAMB

  27. Welcome to the H.A.M.B. , quite the time capsule ya got there. I’m always a sucker for a period piece.
